It's worse then we all thought.

Thedailybeast.com

"At no point is F-35 fragged to have VDL [video down-link] unless it carries a targeting pod and the F-35 EOTS does not have and will not get an IR [infrared] marker,” the first F-35 official said. “It won’t fit in the space available."
The Electro-Optical Targeting System is obsolete compared to the infrared marker used by the A-10, F-15E or F/A-18 Hornet.
Upgrading it to have that capability was never planned for and it's going to cost millions to add compatibility too the pod.

The F-35 fanboys at F-16.net also seem really butthurt about this as well.

Never underestimate human stupidity.
It's pretty easy to tell who they are as well. Anybody who speaks out against the F-35 is considered a troll on F-16.net. Despite factual quotes and evidence.

I mean my "Like" of the F-35 is solely based on it's game appearances, I don't even try to hide it.

And that is only barly acceptable here.

Something similar happens now in Europe with The Eurofighter Typhoon. It is equipped with an obsolete mecanical radar and the plane cannot acquire ground targets on its own, it must be helped by an F18 Super Hornet for target designation ! So the British who wanted only Typhoons are now forced to buy... F35B, oups ! From one ****** plane to another and spending millions for it ! Most governments seem to be stupid !

Fortunately my skeptism has been dispelled, from what I heard it runs much better and more optimized than normal FSX even.

Wonder if we'll see a montage video in the future with F-22's and F/A-18's shooting down Migs to Kenny Loggins.

The probability of this seems pretty low to me, as the Syrian government doesn't joke around with their air defence equipment, which is pretty capable. I'm calling this one.

Looks like there are a couple of other reputable sources stating the same thing, some of them even Syrian, so it might not be so far off the mark after all.
