Because the F-117 is not the only polygonal aircraft flying these skies.
anybody played war thinder here? if yes can you tell me if JU-87 G-1 is worth it? or G-2 maybe? or maybe i should focus on the BF branch? or bomber?
I do!!
And the G-2 is fine as a troll plane and if you want to snipe bombers.
"Svenska Dagbladet", Swedish newspapers, referring to sources in Swedish armed forces, notify that two Russian bombers Tu-23M3 and four unknown fighters, in the night of 29th March, had flew over the uninhabited Swedish island Gotska Sandön, and simulated an attack on Stockholm and southern part of Sweden.
This newspapers also mention that Swedish Air Force didn't respond, but the NATO fighters from Lithuania and Denmark have came in the zone of the exercise.
Swedish Forces confirmed that there was an exercise of Russian Air Forces near Swedish border, but they didn't confirmed that Russian have performed "an attack on Stockholm".

does anyone here know what the major downside would be of building a fixed wing fighter aircraft and mount rail-guns onto said aircraft wings for an offensive weapon? food for thought.
Erm... Railguns aren't even operational yet, or if so its on an extremely minimal scale. Last I heard it was a bunch of US Navy vessels having them experimentally equipped, and even that is a little grey.
Due to the immense size of current day experimental railguns I'd say that mounting them on an aircraft in the near future is completely improbable. Besides, the targeting systems required for a gun that fires a projectile at speeds upwards of 2.4Kps (Kilometres per second)would be immense, let alone on board a fixed wing fighter travelling at Mach 1.5 and engaging with a hostile fighter of around the same speed.
dude you have been exposed to the tiberium crystal for too long
What does the circular disk on the E-2 Hawkeye serve?
Drinks mostly.
Well I was actually asking for what purpose the circular disk on the E-2 Hawkeye serves.
In layman's terms its pretty much a giant piece of airborne radar. The E-2 Hawkeye's role as an AEW or Airborne Early Warning system is pretty much to detect aircraft, ships and vehicles at long ranges.
