By the way, this thing is called "Stiel-Handgranate"... because it has a handle ("Stiel"). The other would be steep ("steil") ;). Other than that nice work.
yeah :O In German, I was always taught for spelling that there is an "ei" or "ie" in the word, whatever letter sounds is the one that comes last.
but my only reference to that word was call of duty 2 lol. So i should have looked it up again. steil would be pronounced "stile" and stiel is pronounced "steel"

Potato masher. Awesome model! Model-wise it's spot on. The textures need a little more love. The specularity looks too identical throughout the model. I'd tone it down on the wood, as well as making the shininess look a little splotchier throughout. These huge spaces of identical shininess across the model make it look a little unreal. Your normal maps are very regular as well.
That said, you mentioned you were going to do scratches next, that will obviously address a lot of what I just said.

AO is a great start to be sure, just needs a little more oomph! I'm looking forward to the completed textures.
