Mod of the Year 2007

Welcome to Mod DB and the 6th Annual Mod of the Year Awards - the definative event that showcases the best mods and indie games in the world and recognizes the teams behind them. The MOTY is a tribute to the creativity, dedication & hard work independent developers put into creating unique gaming experiences that enable us to "play something different".

Over the coming months we will showcase to you the best mods and games in the industry. You vote for those you believe are worthy of recognition. At the top of this program sits the ultimate prize, the mod of the year award won previously by Natural Selection, Red Orchestra, PoE2 and Garry's Mod. Thanks to our sponsors, this year we have a few surprizes up our sleaves not to mention a slew of prizes for the participating teams.

From Dec 1st to Jan 1st, industry professionals, developers, gamers and the general public cast their votes to decide which mods define the cutting edge of interactive entertainment and which mod teams attain gaming celebrity.

When will the annoying video's servers be fixed so that I can showcase my mod video for the MOTY's?, & why are they taking so long to get up?, & will they be up & ruuning before the MOTY's voting gets into full swing, if not, modders that have already got video's uploads from before the site switched over will have an unfair advantage over other modder's that arn't yet able to showcase their video's.......:(

Great to hear! I'm already curious about the video quality. Will you be using Sorenson, VP6 or H.264?

Something tell me it'll be Flash.

Darth.Hunter Dec 2 2007 replied:

That definately. But with Flash, you can also use various codecs. Sorenson for instance is used at youtube (and is responsible for the crappy quality). VP6 has an extremely high quality at a high compression. But afaik it's commercial for automatic transcoding server-side.

That's good to hear. I was wondering the same thing. For the last week I've been refreshing my mod's vid page again and again earnestly believing moddb when they said that the media was being processed and it would only be another 15 mins. :( That was like 700 mins ago, ctm.

So.. how many can we vote for? There's a lot of quality mods out there, and it is extremely hard for me to decide for only one.

Is there any way you could add the "Number of Votes Received" on the individual mods profile under "Statistics" by any chance? This would be a very nice addition I think! :)
