The Somme - WWI FPS

Greetings Trench Rats,

It is sad news today, news that will greatly upset a lot of the followers of The Somme. Unfortunately we've collectively agreed as a team to let The Somme peacefully pass away. We acknowledge this might come as a huge shock due to the recent post regarding a firm revival of The Somme, however due to unforeseen circumstances financially, The Somme could no longer sustain itself. This comes with the territory of being a real indie game, indie games are plagued with the problem of funding and believe us when we say we did our complete best in looking for a cure. Maybe one day the project might arise if the funding is there, but from strong observation the probability of that happening is tremendously low.

We hope that you understand the severity of the issues that plague such a ambitious project - we want to thank you as a community for being absolutely amazing, loving and very interested in the product.

Thank you, and good night.

- The Somme

You could succeed if you were keeping touch with the community and open a donation program what you guys call crowdfunding... Look how Verdun has succeeded, you could succeed too!

This is such a load of bull, two months after you reaferms everyone that this project isn't dead, you kill it off for reasons you don't go into details about. If money was a problem, then why didn't you use kickstarter?
All I feel is diapointment in your lack of ability to find a solution like kickstarter. People WOULD of donated to this.
I have no sympathy for you.

As disappointing as this is you must appreciate that this game was a real deal. Not your average indie game... And of course the costs of being a startup business incured. 50% of all startups fail. You must realise that their are so many factors that could cause the businesses failure. Most likely poor management but you never know!I was invited to work for this game and they seemed very professional in their approach. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt.
