The Somme - WWI FPS

Stand down soldier.

Today we take a break from the harsh winter cold and huddle around candle light to take a look at some of the latest progress from the team. We have a music sample and new promotional media to warm your mud drenched toes. First up check out some music produced by the very talented Chase Bethea. The track is entitled 'The Somme Needs You!'.

Next up and if you missed them this week, check out the latest work from our resident artist Paul.

News from the front line:

Thanks to the efforts and votes from all our followers old and new we were able to secure a Greenlight on Steam within the month we featured. This is truly humbling to us. Considering all the hard work we put into making this project become a reality it is amazing to know we have you all behind us as we begin to push forward. One of the benefits of being Greenlit meant an invitation to the 'Steam Dev Days' exclusive conference event being held in Seattle in January which we will be attending.

Progress is being made in all departments with more art and design insights coming in the near future. Hit follow on any of our media sites to make sure you catch the latest from our team.

Soldiers, you've had your rest, now take up your arms and vote for The Somme to win IOTY!

will the U.S appear in this game? I know we didn't play a large role in this war but I'd like to see a map based on the Marines at belleau wood or the Lost battalion in argonne forest just wondering if you have plans for that in a later update or something.

I hope not, I would love to play a war game where the US is either an insignificantly small part of it or not at all. Its just there are so many US-centric war games out there already :P

What i'm trying to say is maybe 1 or 2 maps where the U.S really did have a significant impact on the event taking place like I said for example belleau wood , I would really prefer if they did focus on the British or French side of things and while I'm talking what about Austro-Hungary? I wonder if they will be playable

Alright, I really, really love WW1 games, and I am wondering when you think there will be a playable alpha or the release date, that would be great to know, I would like to do a review on this game when it is finished, thanks!

I know you might not have a time window, but will it be released in time for the 100th anniversary of the Great War? Even if it's not I won't mind - I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!

Well, WW1 was four years of trench warfare with very little gains on either side once the frontlines formed in late 1914,so I wouldn't be shocked if it is a slower FPS.
