Does he still split into smaller Treants? And will there also be changes to the Dryad?

The Ancient Treant doesn't split anymore. That ability didn't balance well when we were implementing it as the new Wood Elf general.

The Dryad on the other hand has taken a new role as the Wood Elven secondary spellcaster. Currently it only has Awe but in future it will get access to a new Seduce spell (as will the Succubus).

Perhaps normal Treeman could split into Oakmen instead. It seems like a good and original mechanic to remove completely.

I also believe that normal treants should get ability to split into 2 oakman upon death. In this way an ability to split upon death would not become forgotten. Also I always viewed to wood elves as a race which has some potential in using towers offensively and the more ways to get builders would exist, the easier offensive towernig would be. I hope that in the future wood elves (especially their economy ) would be rebalanced to make the race relying and reliable on using towers offensively.

I really find your suggestion about wood elven buildings being used offensively really interesting. I'll give it some more thought.

Also the ssrathi (lizardman race) has some potential in using towers offensively. However both ssrathi and wood elves lack either economy or have a bit too expensive towers (and lack normal buildings with reliable attack) to rely on offensive towering so probably these problems should be solved.

On a side note: fey use their Main Building to produce most units so either units production should be moved somewhere else or the main building could get weak ranged attack (similar to crystal towers'). The Main Building attack speed and range could depend on its level (the higher level, the greater range and attack speed could be).

Don't worry, the split mechanic isn't gone. It's just getting a side shift to the Plaguelords (in version 0.8.8/0.8.9).

The Spores thing, but Treants doing it would also be good.

Will w3 finally get Hydra splitting then? :)

Should split into what type of unit, in your idea? Should be a nice snake or something but for that we need more models.

Maybe the pyro/cryo hydra could split into regular hydras (they are moving to dragonlords and new hydras are being created for the Plaguelords - Joe's work)?

Hydra splitting was a joke, since Hydras do not have an obvious weakness and them splitting into other Hydras would be OP. :)

Summon Oakmen will make this a retinue unit like the Sorcerors. I love having the T3 mines full in the first 2 minutes.

Woah, my favourite retinue unit is now even more favourite!
But, isn't it OP now? Judging from stats too (expecially damage and combat at lv0)

He sits around the strength of a Minotaur King or Giant and costs as much too. Compared to the king it has spells but a worse body and no 100% ignore armor ability, whilst a Giant has splash damage, no weakness but no spells and a worse body.

Seems a good trade off, maybe the concept of these 3 powerful units is what makes me doubt in general (being more accustomed to WBC3 vanilla stats). But it's good to diversify!
So what about the Dryad now? Are you planning to make her a spellcaster, like Ice maidens and Spider queens?

Yep! The Dryad's fitting into the elven secondary spellcaster slot. She's yet to get spells, but she will definitely have Seduce in future (in version 0.8.8/0.8.9).
