We have just released our first July release candidate, playtest-20140709.
This short development cycle has been extremely productive, and includes some long-awaited features:
- The RA and TD game music can now be downloaded and installed from the in-game music player.
- Capturing enemy structures in RA and TD will now let you build units from their faction.
- The maximum tech level can be configured in the lobby options (TD only in this playtest).
- Added an option to lock the mouse cursor inside the game window.
Other big changes include:
- Fixed a number of crashes that were introduced in the last release.
- Improved performance and memory usage.
- Added beacon images for the RA spy plane, paratroopers, and parabombs.
- Multiple players can now repair a building at an accelerated rate.
- Added engine support for diamond-shaped (“isometric”) terrain (an important milestone for our TS mod).

Beacons have been added for the air-support powers in RA.
Tech levels can be configured in the TD lobby options.
Support for RA and D2K will be added in the next playtest.
The OpenRA engine now supports isometric perspectives.
Development is progressing well on our Tiberian Sun mod, but it will not be ready for several more months.

Cool! If you pick a Creativecommons.org license for your sprites, we could initiate an open content replacement project like Wiki.openttd.org did for Transport Tycoon.

Ah **** yeah tiberian sun! There are so many mods/units etc to be ported when this is ready. Just imagine twisted insurrection with this superior engine!!!

Actually you can enable HD resolutions on Original Tiberian Sun, by editing the sun.ini config file.
OpenRA has other superior features though. Like better platform support (runs great on modern OSes), more stable multiplayer, better UI, more customisable controls and hotkeys etc.
I know that stuff already. Like that original ts resolution trick and i have been playing/following openra project for quite some time. -_-
Thank you guys, you've done so much hard work on this! I'm typically a lurker that only speaks out when something is worth just that! I grew up with these games.To be honest I prayed when westwood was acquired that when the license opened up someone, anyone would grab it and run with it! I've sat, watched for awhile, and all I have to say is you've carried this out with the SOUL and PASSION that CNC deserves!
