One Night 4 is the latest addition to Dark Gaia's infamous horror game series, under development in the RPG Maker VX Ace engine. It has the distinction of being the very first horror/adventure game created with the engine. One Night 4 is not a continuation of the previous One Night games; its story is completely unrelated (except for a few small references) and it is aimed at new players and veterans alike.

In One Night 4, you play as Gordon West, an ex secondary school teacher turned failing writer. When a strange package arrives on Gordon's doorstep containing an empty golden locket and a slip of paper reading "Come dream of me", he begins experiencing recurring nightmares that seem just a little too real. As you survive each of Gordon's dreams and uncover the significance of each surreal place you visit, you'll learn a terrible, forgotten secret and the origin of this mysterious fate that has befallen Gordon.

With all new exploration focused gameplay (with minimal combat, in the tradition of One Night 2: The Beyond) and six dark locations, including a real world and a dream world that begin to intertwine, this will be One Night you won't forget.

Thanks! I hope you don't mind waiting too long for the full version though... I currently have it on hiatus while I finish off another couple of projects, so it won't be released until mid 2014 at least.

@HimeWorks It WOULD be cool if there was some kind of discount for existing users, given how similar RPG Maker iterations are.

Oct 4 2015

@HimeWorks You can pan the sound to the left or right speaker. They had this in 2k3... interesting that it's back.

Oct 3 2015

@HimeWorks Based on the screenshots, front view doesn't have visible actors so it's irrelevant. Enemies work the same.

Choices made in Age of Darkness lead to dire consequences in Heroes of Legionwood: Resurrection #gamedev #RPGMaker

Oct 3 2015

@HimeWorks Yeah, I'm sure that's tied to the Missile setting, for bows and guns and other ranged weapons. There might be other settings too.

Oct 1 2015

@HimeWorks Likewise, I think the "Missile" option will animate the weapon flying through the air to the enemy instead of just swinging.

Sep 29 2015

@HimeWorks Then the character battler plays its standard "attack" animation and you'll also see the weapon swinging.

Sep 29 2015

@HimeWorks It seems to work like RM2k3. As in you have a spritesheet for the weapon "swinging" and you assign that to weapons.

RT @JimSterling: Best of Steam Greenlight Trailers: Groovy Invaders (warning: this one is truly obnoxious)

Sep 29 2015

@HimeWorks To be fair, I've been using this copy of Ace since it came out and never updated it, so it's probably my fault :p
