In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.
The year is now 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.
You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

Studio 4A Games announced that the company passing the scene of the draft Metro 2033: The last refuge take 10 hours of free time. Also, soon, studio talk about engine technology 4A Engine.
Great news from THQ and 4A Games. Metro 2033 sent to the "gold". Long-term development of the game is officially completed and a box with the game will go on sale March 16 in North America and 19 March in Europe.
Plot of the game tells of post-apocalyptic Moscow, where you will be simply to survive. Interfere with this will be numerous mutated creatures that live in the depths of the underground. They will not let you live peacefully.

If only this game was more modable
I just got this game from a friend...he didnt tell me it was a horror game.. lets just say i almost went in my pants when those things came out.
I don't consider it a horror game, and it certainly isn't one primarily. It's a survival and adventure game.
I think your freind might be a badass, or a troll, more likely a troll, not very horrory to me, but I do start to **** myself when I am geting chased. Kinda like S.T.A.L.K.E.R call of pripyat, well the only time S.T.A.L.K.E.R was scary to me was when I went into X8, that **** was scary.This game is scary at most times, ussualy when you are not inside a safe place.
Now part of the THQ Humble Bundle for $1. If you haven't played it now is the perfect chance :)

A movie based on the book would be best. Look at all movies that are adapted from video games; nobody takes them seriously and the end up being horrible. I wouldn't want that to happen to such a brilliant series.
Agreed. However, it depends on who's directing it. If I were directing it, I'd get it down to every detail of the book. Hell even making this movie 3 hours long could be possible. Could allow me to add more to the movie.
Yeah I'd like maybe Alfonso Cuaron or even Spielberg to direct it, though if it was a video game adaptation then it would get some unknown director.
Although it would confuse audiences who have never even heard of Metro 2033 if we just do everything from the book. We would need explanations such as what's going on through out the story such as when they're moving through the Metro and Kahn starts freaking out. It would be very confusing without the reading part put in so I was thinking maybe put Artyom narrating what's going on at some points as if he's writing it down in a journal.
