In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is now 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

Well I played the game, read the book, and realized something; This series needs a movie! But the problem is that the games, movies, and books often differ so we would have 3 different versions. That's why I'm curious, which would you prefer? A movie based off the book or a movie based of the game because I think the book was much more interesting. Just curious as to other people opinions.

A movie based on the book would be best. Look at all movies that are adapted from video games; nobody takes them seriously and the end up being horrible. I wouldn't want that to happen to such a brilliant series.

Agreed. However, it depends on who's directing it. If I were directing it, I'd get it down to every detail of the book. Hell even making this movie 3 hours long could be possible. Could allow me to add more to the movie.

Yeah I'd like maybe Alfonso Cuaron or even Spielberg to direct it, though if it was a video game adaptation then it would get some unknown director.

This game has an amazing storyline. It's engine is a bit heavy but still good.

Only £5 on Steam at the moment in the THQ sale. Well worth the price. I actually preferred Metro 2033 to Stalker. It has an interesting story, characters and great atmosphere. Like others have said if it wasn't as linear and had more of a free roaming aspect it could have been superb.

Hopefully the Metro Last Light can improve it as the series has a lot of promise.

A splendid game with stunning elements and captivating storyline.
The atmosphere is delightfully thick and powerful with heavy design to back it all up.

Sadly, the very restrictive gameplay progression, narrative direction, weak audio aspects, low replay value and arcade like game mechanics are drawbacks that cannot be ignored.
