Pick up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Yes bacause the combines are fighting with a deleted OCIW weapon and the ground of the jail (tile floor) differs from the final version + the combines have a new logo on their back and the back of the antlions is grey-blacky.
Meh, it all looks epic to me, so why think about it? Just enjoy it... Like drugs ;D
Look at the Combine Uniform, the OICW rifles, even the Antlions look different, what does our brain tell us: Beta!

OICW (Objective Individual Combat Weapon), not OCIW.
Probably because they replaced it with the more Combine-y Pulse Rifle.
Eh..... Valve got hacked a few mounths before the original releace date of HL2 that was somewhere 2001-2002 and a german hacker stole HL2 (that is what we know as HL2 beta ) and releaced it on the net tho it was very buggy and it crashed at a sertan spot and you cant go any further and so valve gave up the whole HL2 and started from scrac with only an engine and a few maps thats why all the cool guns and new creatures in the beta never got into the full game also thats why it took valve 5 years to make HL2
That gun was supposed to be in the game and it's a shame they removed it. It looked so cool. There was also supposed to be a Molotov cocktail and some other cool stuff in Half-Life 2, also. I never tried HL2 Beta, but I think it was leaked so I probably shouldn't.
The game did good anyway.
But it would be awesome if valve had made the "other story" also!
Like "Half-Life Deleted Story" ot something else.

Valve already said they didn't care about the beta anymore. That's why there has been a lot of people working to finish beta maps into something playable.
I wish I got a chance to play the beta. Ah well.
Thats defintitly hl2 beta, theres a gun thats not in the game
you know, if you want to try out these guns or play halflife 2 with a new set of weapons and bullet time and other stuff, try HL2 substance. AA and anistropic values are forced low, but who cares?
There are several OICW models available. Just ask the makers of SMOD Redux. It's also a weapon in Missing Information.
