Description

This is basically reskin pack for all the weapons and adds a new weapon for every weapon slot, replaces every enemy with a new one, except for Hell Barons which are only slightly modified. Adds new hud and a optional "realistic" difficulty" for those who like games fast and deadly. Mutiny also makes use of GZDoom's built-in inventory system, giving you an arsenal of power-ups. Also replaces the bosses with insane new ones. Unlike other mods, It is possible to play this mod without the weapon/monster randomizer, just use the base wad without the spawner. Although it will make it difficult to find the new ammo type (6.68mm only the infantry that replace Hell Knights can drop it)

I found this mod extremely difficult, I felt like it's impossible to play, because the enemies are all hitscanners who have too much HP, move too quickly, or are too far away in maps, and the only weapon that's actually useful and versatile, the assault rifle, hardly gets any ammunition. The pistols, SMG and shotguns are terrible, and would only be useful against vanilla Doom's enemies. The SSG in this mod is actually worse than the default one, it's a bit slower. I found it very frustrating at first, and almost gave up on it. However though, I really wanted to play it, because killing other marines in a Doom .wad seemed like a really cool experience.

Thus, I tried something. With sv_infiniteammo 1, this mod becomes incredibly playable, and incredibly fun. It reminds me of build engine games with how there's enemies you'll want to be using grenades or rockets or something else for, because in levels like the ones in the Mutiny community project, a lot of the times, too many enemies will be showing up at once, and you'll want to be using other weapons. In games that are flooded with hitscanners, it's very important that you have enough firepower to deal with them before they take away your health. With an infinite ammo assault rifle, this becomes a part of the game.

All that being said, with just that one little change, I absolutely love this mod. Having infinite ammo brings the difficulty more in line with the original Doom, and creates an experience something like both Wolfenstein 3D (you're killing nearly everything and everyone with an automatic weapon) and build engine games (throwing grenades over ledges, using explosives around corners, fighting enemies in more clever ways instead of just running out and being gunned down by a dozen hitscanners all over the place). If anyone plays this and finds it too difficult at first, I implore you to try it with infinite ammo, it makes the game way more fun!
