Punjab uses Tropic Biome assets in an attempt to recreate the feel of Northwest India and Pakistan.
Love the design.

Yeah, lovely map. But still waiting for the random map generation.
It's already been implemented for about a year or so, so no need to wait. Just select "Random map" from the "Match type" dropdown in the game setup and you're good to go. Currently there are just a few included, but that should change for Alpha 9 as several of our forum users have started to contribute random maps.
i think he refers to the actual 'random' map generation. by that i mean that it doesnt pick a pre-existing map, so much as makes a new one on the fly that has all the resources and stuff.
he may however mean just picking a random map so dont take my word on it.
A truly random Random Map would be nigh unplayable.
This is what the random map scripts do, they just generate something based on a set of parameters (but resource placement, river shape and cliff location are all varied as much as the script is written to be). Theoretically, you could write a script to make just about anything, but it would be challenging to make it truly random and playable every time.
i remember SW Galactic Battlegrounds (Star Wars spin-off of AOEII) had a random map generater. granted it didnt have the area control mechanics, had less going on in general, and had a built in set of peramiters, but it might be a place to start if you havent looked into it at all. you probably have and im just posting useless advice to someone who knows about it and already has it done; ive been kinda busy though and havent kept very up-to-date on any mods/games progression other than halo campain commander. just of the top of my head.
I love the river textures :D !
