0 A.D. is a free, open-source, cross-platform real-time strategy (RTS) game of ancient warfare. It's a historically-based war/economy game that allows players to relive or rewrite the history of twelve ancient civilizations, from Iberia to Mauryan India, each depicted at their peak of economic growth and military prowess. Developed using Pyrogenesis, a ground-breaking new game engine custom-built to suit this project, 0 A.D. will give players a rich and entertaining real-time gaming experience.
"Outposts" are a new feature. These are cheap, weak structures the player can construct in Neutral territory to give vision over the map. They lose Health over time and are easy to destroy, but are cheap and useful.

lose health over time? Is that a reduction until it's only 1 HP, or does it eventually destroy itself?
I'm not a fan of the latter. Cool model either way, however.
All buildings lose Health when they are not connected to a Civic Centre.
But yes, it does eventually die. It's intended to be a temporary scouting tool (and it's cheap enough to replace easily).
Looks pretty awesome, however the lose health over time seems a bit annoying, how about perhaps it becomes unusable unless it is garrisoned by a soldier or 2? And with this even the enemy can garrison it if no one has prior. Just a thought. Nice work by the way.
Trying to keep it as simple as possible for now. After a lot of playtesting, it isn't "annoying" to me, because I know that it's only a temporary scouting solution. And the Outposts stop losing Health once they are engulfed by your territory. They are also repairable.
me too i dont like this loose health over time
I like the model. However: those spiky 'crenelations' seem a bit misplaced. They offer no defensive benefit to the people in the outpost.
Maybe you could make it so that they loose health ONLY if they have no troops nearby. SO lets say you leave a soldier there, then it wouldn't loose health.
Lose health... Well, I don't like it - but I can deal it with it if it lasts a while.
They last 5+ minutes.
great looking building but i cant see them being used often unless they are good during seges to see in enemy camps
They're good in the early game, and help the player spot rushes or attacks early on. :)
cool
I like the health losing, it reduces camping.
Sweet
Is the health loss scripted or a natural effect from being on enemy territory? (in other words does it loose health on friendly ground?
Either way, nice model + skin and the Idea is good. Sure people dislike it when something looses HP over time but I think these things will be fun/usefull.
PS @community: also cosider that regular troops can construct this, you don't need to expose a (female) villager.
Your outpost stops losing health once your territory has grown to encompass it.
