Mod Authing Thread

I'm beginning to wonder if sometimes the mods aren't even being looked at before being authorised. This is a pretty piss-poor example.

One, barely punctuated and barely understandeable line in a Wikipedia user page is NOT a website, and that's just the beginning.

It's well establised that the mod authers really suck at their jobs, unfortunately.

Had a look right now at the profile... I double your opinion. I don't think this kind of mods should be authorized. This is kinda a fist on the eye

Who the heck is authing these mods? This mod should be banned, not authed.

I became less confident in the wikipedia base when the mods changed people's comments to agree with them in an afd.

Remember that this is a user page and under the general jurisdiction of the user, rather than the community, although yes, you do have a point.

I voted this for mod of the year.

I don't think this should be banned, rather you should send an email to the author and tell him to fix it up asap or else you ban.

Of course our moderators are busy so if you don't have time to explain to every person how to fix up their mod, then you can just ban it and I wont complain.

I've taken that comment to heart. Some suck, and are too lazy. We need a thorough review and I'm STILL pushing for it.

However, I, as a mod authoriser, take my work very seriously. So please rephrase, unless you really wish to emphasise that there is not ONE decent authoriser on-site. Expect a purging if this kind of crap arises again. This mod has been banned BY myself and the mod leader PM'd.

Having said that been a mod authorizer is a damn tough job - because whenever we dont allow a mod you have no idea how many spam, crap and abuse is generally received.

I'll raise a ticket and tell everyone to sharpen up!

Don't worry INtense. We all know how hard you and the most part of the staff personal works on this page and we appreciate this work.

I think you got some new mod auth'rs in this thread ready to go to work. Glad to see you guys get offended over this. Love the passion!

It's been dealt with internally. We should be seeing the quality of mod authing rise a fair bit in future times. Thanks for bringing this up.

NEEEAAARG! Why didn't I see that coming from a mile away. Yes, you do your job. It seems you're about the only one who does as far as that goes.

That being said, this isn't the first time this has come up. You're obviously the senior staff member, why aren't you keeping on them or reporting people who shirk their duties. There has to be a site activity log that moniters who hits what button where.

Thanks buddy I was overly tired when I read your first post so that would explain my blunt reply. But yes you are right, this has not been the first time it has come up. I am not the manager of Mod Authorising, that's Tarky's job. So I have no authority to keep tabs on/contact authorisers who aren't doing their job.

As Meth said, this is being dealt with internally as we speak, so expect major improvements.

BUT DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!

I'm pretty sure they will do the right decisions. My experience tells me that this could give some "changes" in the positions occupied. Have seen this a couple of times at other places. Some poking at the right people never hurts
