February marks the beginning of the first ever Indie Dev's competition. While plans are forming together (and even a podcast!), this is our first kick-off to competitions and hopefully a lot more content to help out the Indie community.

The rules of the competition are simple:

Draw your favorite Indie or Standalone game in action!

This could be an action scene, environment, or even a character sketch!

Anyone can enter but the deadline is March 1st!

Prizes for winning include: Bragging rights! We really don't have the money to afford physical prizes, but you can be
sure your art and your selected game will get publicity.

Open discussion is available on the Indie Dev's Moddb forums, to answer any questions and for artists to show off what they've created so far. The full list of rules will also be listed.

Good luck!

We've actually been planning this for awhile, and we weren't too comfortable with two concept art competitions being up in the air, so at last we can announce the idea.

If you have questions or comments, you can post them here or our Indie Dev's forum.

Its not kicking off like I wanted it to, but thats because I made a very poor news post.
Its ok though, this is the first competition and we're just learning how to get these things together.

I think it's a fine idea Ninjadave. Just needs some time to get around.

Good idea, but I wonder, if enough people will enter. You could make a sketch art competition, first. That's far less work and more fun to most.

I agree with this guy.

It would be cool if you did a contest that involved Indie developers submitting a piece that best illustrates their game. This would pit the best artist from Indie teams against one another and hopefully gain their game some publicity. Hopefully :P

... if you intend excluding the majority of projects from the contest to begin with :P

Its not a bad idea at all, but Dragonlord is right. Not every indie game has good concept artists, or concept artists at all!
This is why I went with the current idea. I'm all up for suggestions on how to make this better though!

Is this where submissions would be posted? And if that is indeed the case, might I suggest a March 31st deadline instead (avoid April1st).
I would be interested in this if I had more time. You could do a better news post, and maybe take the sketch art suggestion as well idk.

We will, in fact, extend the deadline and have a better news post so people actually know about it. You can go here for the entries.
