No polygons? You mean like that voxel engine or whatever it is? Right now there aren't really any good algorithms for animation, iirc, so might be prettttty difficult.
Anyway, no polys doesn't mean no more limits. When you use the point cloud system, you have to take into consideration that your file size is going to be HUGE. The one from that viral video could have easily taken up several hundred or even thousand gigabytes of memory.
When we say this we mean no more polygons involved, and it will be unlimited items in the engine.
I'm still a tad confused as how you plan to eliminate polygons - the only solution I can think up is a point cloud system. What are you planning exactly? I'm intrigued.
