Maxis Software is an American company that was founded as a video game developer in 1987 and bought out by Electronic Arts (EA), then finally shutdown by EA in March 2013 (giving no reasons why). Maxis' second software title was the seminal SimCity, a city simulation and planning game. Maxis is also the creator of the best-selling computer game of all time, The Sims and its sequel The Sims 2. These three titles and Spore, are the brand's most popular and successful lines.
