I'm not exactly sure what to write here, i'm a bit lost for words right now.

I've just gotten a PM from one of InsanelyMatt's close friends who acted as a go-between for me and Matt while Matt was on duty saying that two weeks ago Matt was killed in Kandahar province in Afghanistan during a fire fight.

Matt was a marine and that meant that often he wasn't able to contribute to HHF as much as he liked, but Matt was the one responsible for HHF continuing after our old coder left as he convinced me to keep up development. HHF certainly owes him not only for this, but also for his sacrifice as a Marine.

As soon as i've had a bit of time to think i'll try to decide on a suitable way to honour Matt for his role in HHF, and write something a bit more thoughtful.

God V3LO I'm so sorry, like you I really don't know what to say here. As you say we all owe him for his ultimate sacrifice to keep us all safe. Perhaps dedicate the mod itself to him or something?

I'll name a UNSC ship after Matt Think he'll love that. And sorry to read this, just like John F Kennedy said.

Indeed, it is sad news. I may not have followed this mod nor payed attention to it's development. However, it seems like a well-made mod. We owe this man a lot.

to honor him you should get a photo and i can Photoshop the back ground out if you want and you can make it the icon for the unsc or for the mod launcher/shortcut. i would like to do the editing if you would post an image on here i would be honored to create something for someone who fought for our lives, and our way of life.

I was looking on Fallen Heroes and they have no Marines in Kandahar in a LONG time. and they had my buddy that died up there before I found out about it, as well as lots of online news articles about him.

I can't find him either I just spent 2 hours looking everywhere. Closest I can find based on the time period given 2 weeks ago (end of July july 31st) was Scott, Brice M. Private 1st Class Kandahar but he's in the U.S. Army. You absolutely Sure about Kandahar? I don't think the Marines are deployed in Kandahar based on the Casualty list. Helmond is Probably where they're stationed. There was 3 Marines who died in a fire Non-Hostile in the Herat Province on the same day. Based on Location and branch No marines had died in Kandahar for some time. Based on Location and time, it could be Scott Brice M. Though Based on Time and Branch, he could be one of three marines that died during that fire of July 31st. However, Based on time, Location, Branch and Name (Matt Brown). He's not on the fatal casualty list. Now that doesn't mean he's not dead, but could it be possible that he was just wounded? They don't release the names of wounded Marines.

In any case, I wish his family well, and what ever sacrifice he has made it has not gone unnoticed, and is deeply felt in this community.

Honestly i know just as much as you. His friend who he trusted to act as a go-between for me and him while he was on duty was the one who told me. Matt's not been on the internet full stop since may, so he's definitely been on duty.

none of the Force Recon Battallions/companies are deployed right now, and they haven't lost more than 1 Marine in the last few years. First Recon hasn't deployed yet, and Third Recon only just deployed. Maybe he's MARSOC? does that sound familiar?
