Supreme Mech Commander is the start of a total conversion mod for Supreme Commander FA based on the Battletech universe. The ultimate goal is to have multiple BattleTech factions face each other off in large scale battles. In its current state, the Federated Suns, Clans Snow Raven, and Clan Hells Horses have been implemented, with faction specific factories and units. Combat units are balanced against each other, with the focus of BattleTech units facing like units, but pains have been made to make them compatible with existing unit factions in the vanilla game, for solo AI matches. Values for units are based on the classic table top BattleTech, with nods made towards Mech Commander. Combat is currently focused on intelligence, using sensors and ECM to track and confuse the enemy.

are there any planned updates on this mod? im not too well acquainted with the battletech universe so forgive me if this is all there is.

As of right now no. The mod is pretty huge when it comes to the number of custom units with 3 different faction flavors to play with. The BattleTech universe is huge, so no worries. If you have any questions ask away.

Hmm it's really hard to build anything before you are attacked in this, do the rest have to be edu as well? They tend to just bring their drop ship too your base, or if they are the other factions they just swarm my engineers as building turrets even level one takes a lot of power.

One of the biggest assets early game is your lee class dropship. It's loaded with weapons but they power down when its constructing units so keep that in mind. Getting 1 or 2 Auxiliary Power Generators up and running after you initial 4 mass extractors is really important early game.

Loving this stuff my man, don't stop! Supreme Commander is probably the best platform for a rts BTech game out there.

Encountering a weird bug though, i whent clan command but the only thing i can make is the warhawk o.O

Hey thanks man.

Yea I noticed that the starting Lee dropship can only build the Jifty, and the Warhawk. But the next step after getting the Clan Command is to pump out a couple of Jifty engineers and start building your base, which the base factories have all the units for the selected faction. Let me know if this makes sense, if not I might do an updated video on some base gameplay.

It wont even show anything after it says it built them, and it constantly crashes.

I have no idea how to use this mod obviously.

The Lee dropship stores the units within himself. So once you build 1 or 2 units with the dropship, unload them with the unload command.

Strange, ill try re-installing the mod, might've just been my install.

Have you considered using mwo models instead of doing your own?
Might save you some time. I imagine pgi would be fine with it, they let another modder use models for a fallout mod.

Also, I dont know how much work it takes but another mod called nomads for FA was able to add a new faction to the game. If you felt like taking that route instead of replacing the UEF.

The models in MWO were just to heavy for this game in my opinion. When this game supports 1000 units, the math gets a bit crazy. My models, don't exceed 2.5k polys, MWO models are in the 20k-30k range. Also, it was good practice for me and fun modeling/texturing/animating battle tech models.

I did look into the nomad faction mod, but as a 3D modeler/artist the coding was way over my head, so we chose this path.
