The "sequel" trilogy has not, and never will be, canon in my opinion and of many others. If Disney wanted otherwise they could have bothered to put actual effort into the story/production and remain faithful to the legacy of Star Wars.
Yup, the Expanded Universe novels we've all come to love over the past few decades will always be the canon version of post-endor star wars to me. Disney is just fan fiction.

Holy f**k... I never thought I would see the day they came out. I froze when I saw that image.
Probably a stupid question, but I'm curious which ships will be different between the Rebellion and the New Republic, besides the obvious like the MC90 and Nebula Destroyer.
Also, I don't have an knowledge of how Sins works internally, but would it be possible to make the Star Forge spawn at it's proper location in the Galaxy, Far, Far Away map instead of a random planet?
