This year, we will be kicking off Mod of the Year with a tactical run down of the upcoming New Republic capitalships. Please go to the main page and drop us a vote if you enjoy the work we are doing.

The Republic class Star Destroyer (RSD) is one of the stranger ships in the New Republic fleet. The brain child of Walex Blissex, designer of the Victory class Star Destroyer turned general of the Rebel Alliance, the first Republics were built at the Mon Calamari shipyards. This gives the Republic a unique synthesis of classic Star Destroyer firing angles with a more organic look usually seen on Mon Calamari cruisers.

In the mod, the Republic Star Destroyer is another initial capitalship for the New Republic. It serves as a bulky support capitalship that can hold its own in a fight, and a more defensive inversion of the Empire's Victory II.

Abilities
1. Shield Reserves: A concept Walex borrowed from the Mon Calamari, the RSD features room for redundant shield generators. Increase max shield points, and the amount of shield points recovered from all sources.
2. Integration: The Republic Star Destroyer absorbs half of incoming damage for nearby allies for a time, while improving its own defense.
3. Stunning Strike: Fires a barrage of ion cannons that target an enemy's engine systems, dealing shield damage and rendering the target briefly immobile.
4. Heir of Victory: Covers the flank of a friendly capitalship or titan, allowing it to seize the initiative and deliver a devastating attack on the enemy. Grants a large amount of antimatter to the target and greatly reduces its ability cooldowns, while simultaneously allowing the Republic Star Destroyer to recover shields faster as the enemy confronts this new threat.
