CRONUS:

At first glance, Cronus (technically 46CronusD, the fourth planet in the nearly dead Cronus system) seems like an unlikely place to play such a critical role in the future of humanity.

It is a hostile, barren world with a poisonous atmosphere, incessant volcanic and seismic activity, and an unexceptional collection of minerals easily mined from hundreds of thousands of more accessible asteroids and moons, not to mention the handful of human-colonized worlds.

However, when a deep space probe sent to the system to collect scientific data for cataloging purposes detected chemically compelling organic material in soil samples, the United Corporate Authority (UCA) was formed by three dominant megacorporations (Andra Biomechanics, Armacham Technology Corporation, and Shogo Industries) and a jointly funded manned expedition was launched.

That early venture found rich deposits of the organic material, dubbed kato for the probe that discovered it (the Shogo DSP Katoki). It would be over a decade before the benefits of kato energy would become apparent and interstellar travel would change forever...

CMC

Cronian Mining Consortium (C.M.C) is a mining block created to promote the industry of Kato mining on Cronus. Akin to the U.C.A it soon took on a management of its own, secretly building up a sizable military force with the aide of Andra Biomechanics thanks to a covert treaty. They soon took control over much of Maratropa and began fighting as one of the dominant factions during the Cronian Revolution. In either Shogo ending the C.M.C surrenders.

Now 10 years after the rebellion, CMC is ruled by UCA.

Why recreating a game on similiar tech engine? Can't you play original shogo?

Isn't it a spirit of modding? Why create a mod for skyrim that changes dragons into steamengine thomas?
I tried to edit original shogo levels but its too hard, and maybe because more people have half life than shogo or no one have tried to do this before. At least i dont know about other half life mecha mod(old gundam mod was only multiplayer).

I do not have much else to say in that regards... maybe have the flash light replaced with a more suitable one like shoulder lamps or something. Also all the weapon huds are the same from HL. Other than that it was a terrific mod and most likely I will be playing it again. I already beat it on hard. I found the heavily armored enemies on the ship too easy, even with just the pistol while on foot. I hardly used any other weapons when I was out of my mech. One would assume it would be nigh impossible to stop a heavily armored opponent with just a pistol. I know for game play purposes it has to be done, but seriously they were not that hard. Two shots from double barrels or two shots from the machine gun (?) puts them down quite easily already.

It would have been nice to stomp on infantry soldiers or even be a soldier on the ground your self as you try and sneak by the titans. The music was strange, but I assume that was on purpose, even if it at some point sounding high pitched or nails on the chalk board... probably a Japanese or Blade Runner type thing. Speaking of which the bill boards were awesome. I just wished there were more touches like that around the levels. Or be able to get in and out of your mech at will and go into buildings or at least important ones, but not particularly main objective ones. You could do side missions if you felt like it.

Ok I am done. I only talked so much about it because I liked it so much. Great job! Fantastic work! ^_^

Thank you for your review. Both 1.0 and 2.0 were more like tech demos than full mods. 3.0 that i renamed ikari, will have shogo models, music, mapstyle and gameplay. Im also trying to tell some story with brefings and cutscenes. Everything you see in this mod is illusion. I cant code, so i have to use original hl weapons and entities. Im also using spirit of half life engine for many usefull tweaks like changing npc models or trigger_command that is vital for MCA/soldier transit. (transit is also possible by using trigger that stripe weapons, teleport and weapon spawn but its less effective, i used it once up to this point). Making 3.0 will take some time, but final effect should be at least interesting.

Well it is one hell of an illusion. More impressive knowing you are doing all this and can not actually code. However I am not sure how hard it would be to change stuff like the generic weapons hud. I would assume an anime styled drawn picture or wad, what ever it is called, in place of the default would suffice. Or even a simple screen shot of what the gun model looks like from the side and use that as the weapon selection for the hud.

If these models and textures are not Shogo, what are they? I enjoyed the cut scenes you already had, but it might be nice to indicate in briefings or cut scenes what is what. Some abbreviations were lost on me and I was running around one map multiple times trying to see what I was suppose to do, when all I had to do was press the button on the console and go back to where I had started.

Also it would be very awesome if the buildings could actually take damage. Windows shattering, corners being broken off, whole buildings collapsing while civilians are underfoot running around screaming in the chaos. Cars trying to get over a bridge and you collapse the damn thing with them still on it. ^_^ Perhaps asking too much of you and the game engine, but it would be very nice.

Anyway I am off to play another round. ^_^

i once used cockroach as civilians, maked them scream insted roach walking sound and when they were stepped but it was so HORRIBLE(belive me) that i decided to abandon this idea. I still need to convert cars from shogo and place them on map, brush made ones are to buggy. Models straight from shogo will be used in 3.0 as you can see in numerous screenshots.

Hahaha! Humans running around like cockroaches underfoot would be awesome! Maybe you just need to tweak it. ^_^

What models are you using now though, especially for the combat units? Your own?

I was making my own MCAs from the models i found, but in 3.0 im using models imported from shogo. Lithteh to goldsource model ports to be precise. I ported andra5, andra10, ordog, raksha, predator, akuma and enforcer and some human and weapon models.

I have never even heard of Shogo before, much less played it, so as I had initially stated I had thought it was a live action show in Japan or an anime. I had no idea it was an obscure game, obscure to me anyway.

It looks good now, so I will be curious with the new models how that all plays out as I think most of us who just happen to come across this wont know the difference anyway of what is what.
