No HRE - A CK2 Mod
Features
This mod allows the holder of HRE to:
1. Renounce all claims on HRE, dismantle it and proclaim foundation of German Empire in her stead. All the holder's vassals will remain the same.
2. Dismantle HRE altogther and in doing so, grant independence to all the vassals.
How to use
Navigate to your mod directory:
- Windows: `~\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\`
- Linux: `~/.paradoxinteractive/Crusader Kings II/mod/`
- Mac: `~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/mod/`
And paste the "nohremod" folder and "nohremod.mod" file in your mod directory.
Compatibility
Theoretically it should run with every mod which doesn't replace the vanilla cultures e.g. like CK2 changes German culture to Swabian, Saxon, Austrian etc. That is because for the decision to run, there has to be a German culture.

Why do you get the nickname "Liberator" for freeing the vassals? If anything, you should be excommunicated and everybody should hate you. They stayed in the HRE voluntarily.
Tell that to all the Italians and Dutchmen who keep trying to secede. If someone gives you Freedom, you would naturally like. Things like national states didn't exist back then, so it wasn't like, let's say Theresa May deciding to split UK into four parts, that would make all the English hate her. But in medieval world, while it does take away liege protection from you, it also saves you taxes, levies and other vexations. It is however an interesting thought, maybe we should add a -40 betrayal opinion modifier for German vassals at least. And excommunication part too, because that's basically punching the Pope in the face.
I can see Italians and Dutch because they did eventually separate, but Germans certainly wanted to stay in the Empire. Also, they wanted to pay taxes because it secured assistance and safety and contributed to the church and such. This was an Emperor who had to be crowned by the Pope to receive proper legitimacy and the church actively supported these monarchies.
These are very interesting suggestions and I'll most certainly incorporate them when I find time to update the mod. Thank you for your Feedback!
