Then make better. Also its not necessary to post on RU language, when you can talk in EN just fine (seeing your comments on other pages).

The new one is superior however the older one has a more natural shadow effect.

its just because of weather, and angle from where the screenshot was taken. shadow is dynamic, not related to the textures :)

I think he means the "shadows" on the new textures, not the shadow of the tree. If u compare the curved roofing, on the old one u can see darker parts going from cca top left to lower right and on the new one there are none. Its a shader effect on a texture.

I think you're not getting dez his point. The sun is rotating, so the shadows rotate with the sun. On the first pic, the sun is directly shining upon the roof where as the 2nd it's from the left.

No way, the shadow of the tree is same in both pictures, this means that the sun is in a same position on both pictures. New version of texture lacks the dark parts I described in my previous comment and thus looks more flat and less dimensional + there is no moss on a new texture, so it looks less aged / stale.

I'm not sure which I prefer, Is the before shot using vanilla textures?

I like how he touched up on the bump maps, too. But I see the rest of the textures were left untouched? How many textures will he be overhauling? Just the 'surface' textures or all of them?

Cheers

"if it is not broken don't fix it" comes to my mind with this, they both look good, the top one looks like shingles, the bottom (original) one looks like roof plates, and i think that is what the original Stalker developers wanted for the look.

In this time I choose "before". When I own a house I want a roof like that.

Here are some before-after shots of the textures will be used in the developer's cut. Thanks for the hard work of Lifestorock!
