I still have an old 1gb HD5770, so I will test it to see what it takes. I'd say 1-2gb is enough, but can not really say till its tested in wider audience.
I just played for quite a while with all settings maxed. In the end my pc just turned off and the area around the card was really hot. Just telling u what happened.
well , my 8800gt reached 97° , had it working like that for a year , it was even WORSE before , reached 108° , PC turned off... Cleaned the video card and everything was more than fine! :D
My card is ADM 290x and it usually stays above 80C its a new pc, I bought it less than a year ago, so it shouldnt be dirty. However I only have 2 fans, so probs that is the problem.
Dont overthink dude, I just played Titanfall for like 6 hours straight and its not even hot. And this thing with LA happened only once, I then just reduced some settings and it works fine.
Very nice additional details, textures gained a lot of depth, old ones seem very flat now :) IMO VRAM is not a problem since u can set texture resolution a bit lower in case the GFX can not handle it... if 2gb is enough for high res textures, it would be a nowadays standard anyway. Good job Lifestorock!
Tested it on my i5 3570 cpu, 8gb ddr3, and an old ati hd5770 1gb vga. Havent experienced slowdowns, as the usage of textures was optimized too. According to Lifestorock, on dx11 the vram usage is between 1 - 1.8gb ram (depending on the level size), but he said it's nearly the same without his edited textures too.
There shouldn't be a performance drop at all. Resolution wise all new textures are in line with the better vanilla ones. Only small 256x256 or 512x512 textures were doubled in size if they are widely used or placed on large objects. Like this one: Tinyurl.com
Looks much better. But how big is the difference in performance between DC and original? Can I play this on 60FPS+? I had 12fps with medium setting on gtx 660.
R.I.P VRAM
anways!
how much VRAM we are going to need for these textures? :D

My card with 4GB Vram overheated and my pc crashed last time I played Lost Alpha, so idk about just 2GB...
What?!
Dude... I played Lost Alpha with my old 8800gt , about 512vram lol , and it worked fine!!

Either your case has a bad air flow or it is really dirty. If it's the later, clean it. Don't forget the fans.

I barely reach 65°C with my GPU (room temperature of 21°C) while playing LA.

if u have not cleaned your pc for a year, maybe try opening it and see for yourself... My HD6770 1gb had no prob with this game at all
I did clean it, there wasnt THAT much dust in it. I think the problem is that I dont have enough fans.
Fact is that LA isn't the cause of your PC shutdowns. You should monitor what is happening.
Their can be a lot of dirt in your case, even after "just" one year. I clean my case every two or three weeks.
