Last Alliance: TW is overhaul mod to Shogun 2. This mod base on stories from Tolkien's books, concretely on wars Dúnedain and Elves against Sauron at the end of the Second Age. This still WIP, but is avaiable alpha with playable Akallabêth campaign ^^

Okay, I know that it isn't screenshot from Last Alliance, but I increased amount of playable factions in Shogun 2! \ ^^ / Here is 46 playable factions and still I can add more ^^ Uff, it was three hard days of working at UI code...
Anyway, for people who want to play as any faction in vanilla Shogun 2, I published this mod here: Moddb.com and here: Steamcommunity.com
And soon probably I will publish resources and tutorial for other modder ^^

You know you just revolutionazed modding in SHogun 2? perhaps in the rest of Total Wars that have limited playable factions!

Yeah, I know, I hope that for other modders this will be usesful ^^
About other TW, as I know only S2TW and NTW from warscape Total War games had problems with make any faction playable. Modders for NTW long time ago increased amount of playable factions to 26 (as I remember). For Shogun 2 I did than any faction can be playable when I started work on LA, but UI limit still was 12, now I changed it ^^

At least MD2:TW had a limit of 26 i think (i think something the game devs allowed) but it would be cool to create even more factions. For Lotr content mods could be cool , seperate Gondor into it's fiefdoms for e.g (of course because of engine limitations, the fiefdoms would attack each other ahahaha)

In Medieval II case it engine limit (but some modders are working on change this limit), in Shogun 2 case it wasn't engine limit + Shogun 2 is on different engine.

BTW. Split Gondor on fiefdoms not has sense for Total War, because it would make Gondor wery weak

Well yes BUT what if not dividing by all, just like dividing in 4. Anórien including Minas Tirith, Cair Andros, Osgiliath, Lossornach and a bit of the region around.
Dol Amroth with a big region in the south of Gondor. Perhaps another including Pelargir and regions around and the last one:
To the West including Pinnath Gelin and Lamedon.
this way it would be 2 Gondorian factions fighting in the south, one in the East and another conquering everything to the West and perhaps invading Isengard (all this is so far stretched ahahaha)
