Howdy folks. It's been what? 8 years?! Wow, I'm telling you all. Time truly flies by so fast nowadays. It's most certainly true what our parents and their parents told us and them. The older you get the faster things go by you. But lets not reminisce over the past or actually shall we?

Back then I often told you people out there that I had big plans to merge my mods Firestorm and Military Duty together as I found my Firestorm Project to be to ambitious and I simply no longer had the time available that I had in my early 20s. Never the less the time has finally come that I feel the ambition and energy once more to finally re-emerge and getting the show underway. Otherwise I wouldn't write this news post right about now. So I'm dead serious.

So without further ado let me fill you in on the latest.

My current work tasks involve not just enhancing my old maps but also by combining my even older Firestorm maps with those of Military Duty. Due to the nature of having 2 separate mods which contained 2 separate visions I often found it difficult to implement them at ease. Which is why I am happy to report that one of my first new maps since 2016 is getting closer to be finalized. But lets have a small sneak peek, shall we?

First new Map in over 8 years. Wow!

At this time I'd like to thank each and one of you out there for your continuous support over the years and the plenty wonderful "reviews" and "lets plays" you folks conducted of my mod. I was truly amazed by how much you guys enjoyed it and even big names such as Archie praised my mod highly. I'm deeply honored. For those not knowing Archie, he is one of two main devs for The Core. So that was highly unique for me but cool.

That being said I took plenty of youtube Videos to heart and listened to your wishes and feedback. For instance remember this place?

Formerly locked environments are now exploreable

You can now explore this place and many others that were previously inaccessible or where it made no sense that you died or faced an invisible wall etc. Back then it was a design choice to keep things simple but with newer compilers and possibilities the maps can be more complex nowadays.

I could go and go on showing you more screenshots. But lets wrap things up. What else am I up to at this moment. For 1 thing: My mod now utilizes halflife-featureful SDK. It's from the same guys that developed Half-Life Field-intensity Go and play it if you don't know it yet.

That means you can not just expect improved path finding for all npcs. But also new skins:

Beta Op4 skins

Credits go to Benedict_Kapustin42 I always wanted that brown Shock Trooper from the game box. :)

And of course also new NPCS. Such as Kate & Barniel from Azure Sheep or even cut Beta Monsters such as the King Pin, Panther, Archer etc. A Particle System for Smoke, fog and so much more. My dream has finally come true. Getting Spirit of Half-Life features with all Op4 entities and even so much more in working condition.

Sounds naturally also play a vital role for my mod enhancement. Let me show you some samples to conclude this certainly unexpected news post.

Sound Samples:

Let the Lady talk

New Scientist Voice lines await

Good to see you

Did you see that one?

Who can guess the name of our new protagonist? :)

I hope you had as much fun reading this as I had writing it.

See you on the battlefield.

PsyWarVeteran Yes. Remember I began working on it back on 2008 when I was 20 years old. Now I'm 35. God where has the time gone by. :D

Yeah, I ask that question to myself a lot too.

As for the Firestorm, I think it'll all pay out in the end. It may take another ten years, but you'll make it friend, I can tell.

Well. It's not dead but not moving forward either at the moment. My job & additional attempt on becoming independent & being able to quit my 9H to 5D (7H to 12D for me actually) job are robbing most of my modding related time.

I'm not even watching Netflix, Amazon anymore and quit these services. Just working around the clock. So don't expect it anytime soon.

On the bright side 1 tiny news:

I did find a coder team. The guys behind Field Intensity. They created me a working prototype specialized for Firestorm. How ever it wasn't finished yet and afterwards I once more got distracted with my job and other personal related issues so I didn't speak with them in quite some time.

Till then the usual gesture: It will see daylight some day but don't expect a release anytime soon. But never lose your faith and hope either. That's that what drives us humans the most.

Still planned but I haven't had much time nor motivation in recent time. That being said I don't know when or if ever I will release it.

Then again I still got like 20 maps pretty much finished sitting on my HD I won't let em die either so some day I will release it's just a question of when.
