Half-Life: Uplink, released February 12, 1999, is one of two demos released by Valve for the original Half-Life video game. Half-Life: Uplink, is a standalone demo set in the Half-Life universe, and contained levels and a storyline not found in the full title.

The Half-Life Oppfor Press Demo was sent to the press to preview Half-Life: Opposing Force before release.
- This is build is older than the retail release by 17 days.
- Requires a retail install of Half-Life patched to 1.0.1.3
- Contains various model, sound, and code differences.
- Multiplayer is disabled in the build, constantly returning the line "Multplayer games not allowed in this demo!"
- Ropes require you to press the use key on them to mount.
- The M249 holds 100 reserve ammo instead of the 50 it does in retail.
- Files pertaining to the ending and the Sniper Rifle have been replaced with dummy files.

It was meant to be used with:
"Half-Life Uplink Demo Lite (by Morpheus)
What is this?
: the single player levels ripped from the Half-life demo (including the scripting).

This is from the uplink addon readme.txt:
Use this small archive in combination with Uplink Lite by Morpheus to play the demo as a Custom Game. Create an uplink subdirectory in your Half-Life folder and extract this archive with folder names activated into it. Then do the same with Uplink Lite and choose Uplink to play.
