This is one of the two demos released for Half-Life. The first one, called Day One, was just shipped with certain video cards and never released to the public. Half-Life Uplink was the official demo released in 1999, and it contained a few unique levels that didn't appear in Half-Life.

This is from the uplink addon readme.txt:
Use this small archive in combination with Uplink Lite by Morpheus to play the demo as a Custom Game. Create an uplink subdirectory in your Half-Life folder and extract this archive with folder names activated into it. Then do the same with Uplink Lite and choose Uplink to play.
