Dark Matter is the unofficial final chapter in the Half-Life saga. Step into the boots of Kovac, an agent of the Special Black Operations unit tasked with containing the situation after the failed experiment at the Black Mesa Research Facility. When Gordon succeeds in launching the Omega satellite delivery rocket, the government becomes concerned that the HECU failed to stop the launch, and that Freeman is a major threat to the military machine and the cleanup operation itself. Your unit is deployed in order to observe the military forces and assist when necessary. On route to the insertion point, your unit's helicopter is caught in a portal storm and ends up crashing somewhere in the facility. You awaken several hours later, new orders have come in, the research facility has passed the point of no return. All units are to assist in delivery of the package, the final hours of the Resonance Cascade have begun...
Original HD model and textures: Gearbox
Original LD textures: Valve
HD Reskin: D3ads
As I've previously said in reply to some comments about the model style I'm going for, Dark Matter will use HD pack models, and some PS2 ones for objects that aren't included in higher definition. I am certainly not just using them all as they are however, whilst some models don't need any changes, there are those that certainly do, and this one is a perfect example.
I love the HD model of the alien grunt but I HATE the texture... it doesn't look nearly as detailed as Valve's original, and the face somehow manages to somehow look almost friendly... I can't have Nihilanth's chief warrior looking like he'd give you a hug, and thus here we have a full reskin!
By using neural upscaling, I have enhanced the size of Valve's original low-res textures, and carefully reskinned the HD model. Now the alien grunt looks as formidable as he once did, all in glorious HD quality! Bonus reskins to the hornetgun models too, in keeping with the original style as best as possible.
There will be changes to other HD models like this, so watch this space. ..
PS: HD shotgun sounds? Hell no, who on Earth decided that was a good idea?!
