The Full Combat Rebalance mod is, so far, the biggest modification created for The Witcher. The combat mechanics have been remade almost from the scratch. The aim was to maximize the realism of the gameplay, this way making it more similar to the world created by Andrzej Sapkowski and maintaining the gameplay to the highest possible standard at the same time. The fights have became more brutal, they need more tactics and strategy, but on the other hand the combat system rules have become more logical. We warmly encourage you to test the modification on your own – and experience a completely new game!

Begins the game with no disciplines. Your character is illegally sired and begins as an outcast without any knowledge of Kindred life other than what you get from LaCroix if you don't skip the opening cutscene or Jack if you don't skip the tutorial. Your background is Caitiff and thin-blooded. As Caitiff you begin the game clanless and inherit no clan disciplines or clan weaknesses. As a thin-blood you have some qualities of an Inceptor and through that eventually develop a set of disciplines unique to yourself. As a thin-blood your Insight is expressed as +2 Inspection. This mod considerably changes the core VTMB gameplay journey with a little inspiration from the book for diehard fans of the series.

I have a issue with swords. Any swords with % to damage, in act 1 deals no damage. I tried bost Geralt to max with save editor and even after that basic sword deals more damage than meteorite sword or any sword with % to damage.
Any solution?
How can I stir the blue color in night vision like original em? I don't like it and I think it's a bit stupid that it doesn't change when you're in the dark.
Gracias
For me this is the worst mode I've ever played on any game. Many bugs, 0 balanced. Couldn't end game bcs of this mode. Parry and dodge is a bullshiet. sometimes I get multiply of it, sometimes 0 and dying very qiuckly. Do not instll it
I just wanted to warn those who are thinking about using this modification.
First off I want to say that I think this is worth using and overall it has been enjoyable.
My major gripe with this mod is that regardless of the difficulty chosen you will die a lot in this game regardless of your set up. There are many reasons for this:
1. you might get unlucky and fail to dodge/parry a few hits and die very fast
2. you might get unlucky and an enemy might hit and proc a status effect like stun/pain/bleed/incinerate and you will be unable to act for some time (and die)
3. the worst offender is that there are many scripted and unavoidable encounters that forces Geralt to be surrounded and outnumbered by many enemies in a cutscene where you are unable to act. By the time the game returns control to the player you are unable to draw your weapon before your foes are upon you! This often leads to death within seconds
Only point #3 is legitimate--and it's more a fault with the base game rather than FCR1. Furthermore, it's only really a problem with the hard monsters pack--which is quite unfortunate, because the hard monsters pack would be perfect without this fatal flaw. I have, however, noticed that the pause function and area transitions are so close together in what is hardcoded into the game's *.exe. I have long been interested in making a FCR1 1.7 that includes such fixes.
For point #1: If your back is turned to an enemy, you can do things like dodge over them. (And remember, your chance to parry is reduced by 50% if your back is returned. Positioning is very important.) You can also prepare with potions like Blizzard, as well as a mixture of talking to various NPCs and buying books to research what you can expect from various creatures. You can swich to Group Style mode (and Fast Style mode--relying only on 'what style is most effective [usually meaning: 'in terms of damage'] is too limiting) to increase Parry affectiveness, and, of course, ensuring sure to upgrade Group Style Parry and Chances to Induce Fear is another means of dealing with this. Furthermore, you have the bestiary, potions, etc.
For point #2: Much of the above applies. Pay attention to what your enemy is. You can always heliotrope an appropriately deadly attack, or rely on Quen to get you back into optimal positioning to protect your HP, depending on what case you are dealing with. You have potions, you have the bestiary. The RNG is minimal if you pay close attention and play the game competently.
The mod achieves CDPR's original vision in having an interesting blend of a third person action RPG with a background D&D system and a high focus on tactics and positioning. The base game made you too OP no matter what you did, but FCR1 did much--easy and hard monsters pack both--to improve this. Points #1 and #2 are only a user's error. Points #3 is your salient, key, and excellent point--and it is why I do not use the hard monsters pack anymore, but it is not to the fault of the mod itself. (Otherwise, I will find a way to fix it one day.)
Please help! When choosing difficulty the mod says ill start with 40 hp but i have 275. Why?
Might be a game modification or glitch
The manual says:"The flaming sword icon, indicating the next attack in the sequence, can now be turned on on the hardest difficulty level or turned off on every difficulty level." But only saw the option to turn on the sword icon on hard difficulty when installing, how do I turn it off on easy diffculty ?
Hi, Just wanted to ask, If i accidentally buy and drink a difficulty potion, does the difficulty stay if i load a save which is before I drank the potion?
Is this mod recommended for first time players?
Better not. I played on hard level, and was quickly killed several minutes during the tutorial. It's better start playing on normal or hard difficulty of vanilla game.
Vanilla combat on medium seems boring already in the tutorial: enemies are damage sponges and Geralt is almost "immortal".
Is there a normal setting for FCR? I just need faster encounters and a bit more challenge..
