Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.

I've been off of SINS for quite some time, finally breaking it out again to get ready for an upcoming LAN party. What I'm seeing here is that 1.83 came out, the mod was updated, with promise of more updates after the holidays, and then everything has gone dark... not just the mod, but all discussion thereof on any site I can find. Is the mod development dead?

Development is promised in the faction specific shield colour image released on the 8th of March with some discussion in the comments of the main page in mid february however I am still surprised that the minimods haven't been updated yet. I would like to know the reason behind this but am not too concerned. The only problem i have with mod is not new features but the extreme lag /crash bug which is not fixed (which sucks as it prevents me from really playing the mod, which i love) however if the author can't fix it then i can't blame him it just sucks.

I was waiting for the 1.83 patch to be officially released, in case any new changes were put in without notice, but I will probably release the minimods/galaxy forge as soon as I'm able to.

A lot of my time lately has been spent on the Star Wars addon, Interregnum. As long as stuff is going on over there, rest assured E4X won't die. :-) Basically anything I do that's not explicitly Star Wars ends up in E4X, and Interregnum requires it to be used.

I have SOASER 1.83, i been useing E4X for a while now on 1.82. I was woundering what i need to download to get the minimods working. I JUST downloaded the E4X for 1.82, 1.801. Whill the minimods work?

Some of them work, a few do not. This is the latest minimod version, but we hope to update everything soon-ish (when Sins updates again).

FYI though you want E4X 1.8 if you have Rebellion 1.82. E4X 1.801 is for people who got the game on GoG and are on 1.83.

No superweapons has stopped working with the latest mod. :( It doesnt crash or anything but the superweapons are now avaialble in the research tree
