Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. It's up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the others. This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding. Spying, exploring, sabotage, diplomacy, culture, and economic development have all been added or changed in innovative new ways. Regardless of what you think Sins is, this is the 4XRTS it should have been.
Between the core mod, the minimods and compatibility with Star Wars: Interregnum, E4X and Star Wars: Interregnum provide a wonderful enhancement to sins of a solar empire: rebellion that makes it my favorite mod for that game. I can either just enhance sins to varying degrees or also add new and interesting new races, tech and setting; this, along with regular updates, makes this very flexible mod among the very best available.
Like this Mod a lot. It makes the factions feel very different from oneanother, much more so than in the Vanilla. Game. Also, i like the "Expanded Research" Minimod. I always have it active.
I can only recommend this Mod for anyone that likes Soase even a bit.
This is one of those mods that is so good that I can't go back to the vanilla game. I highly recommend this mod to anyone that hasn't yet tried it, along with its sister mod Interregnum.
Definitely a top 5 mod. Compliments vanilla gameplay and lore, while improving graphics, UI, and balancing factions without removing their strengths and weaknesses, as well as providing much more needed depth to an already awesome 4X experience.
Soooo much new content to the game, and with the E4X sister mod, and the minimods that come with that, it makes all the difference. A friend and I have gladly spent hours upon hours conquering the galaxy! 10/10 would get heavy cruiser spammed by AI again!
It add a great amount of new ways to enjoy the game, whiteout the need of huge changes or huge files. And for free, that is something to be grateful =)
Truly what the game should have been.
I absolutely love this mod for one simple reason. It makes everything actually seem Unique.
The Loyalists and Rebels actually feel like different factions instead of just CTRL+C CTRL+V'd with a few separate techs and Titans. I especially love how the TEC Rebels can buy pirate fleets and even become neutral/allies to pirates aswell.
The only thing I would consider lacking is textures...I am aware this is essentially just a mod to enhance gameplay (which it does amazingly) but re-textures would certainly be a nice thing to see but I wont go pestering the devs with this but I would urge them to consider it. Either way, the mod itself is brilliant and is brilliantly put in with Star Wars: Interregnum which is also another brilliant mod that if anyone reading this hasn't played, better do so now.
Giving this a 10/10 because this game has truly made me realise how much I love Star Wars and all things sci-fi and made me want to immerse myself into the universe or the EU (Expanded Universe as it's known I hear).
So much reward for so much effort and a massive thank-you to GoaFan. If I could pay you (not that that's what it's about :) ) or reward you I would because this game has been a great addiction, as addictions go.
