Dissolution is a science fiction, single-player mod for Half-Life 2 that mixes adventure and action game-play. Set in the year 2089, in a universe dominated by a mega corporate entity, Xterrier, the player awakes in a hidden lab to the voice of the mysterious Wilson. Guided by Wilson, the player must make their way through the ravaged Xterrier 581c colony, making use of any and all resources they can get their hands on in order to survive, all the while attempting to piece together the events leading to the colony's collapse and their own identity.
Features:
PDA Audio Logs — Get a glimpse of the story and the people who lived at Xterrier 581c by listening to the recorded audio logs.
Complex plot — Dissolution features a layered plot told through PDA audio logs, characters and the environment itself.
Survival game-play — You will have to scavenge and conserve to survive. Ammo is sparse and your supply limited. You will need to make every shot count and collect every ammo box you can in order to survive Xterrier 581c.
Exploration —The more you explore, the better your chances. Dissolution provides an expansive and unique world for the player to explore and rewards explorers with additional supplies, health and audio logs.
Atmospheric soundtrack — Dissolutions features a dark but intriguing soundtrack that compliments in-game events and atmosphere.
After about two years of intense, and often difficult, development, Dissolution is finally available for public release.
Often it has been difficult, but many more times it has been rewarding and it is great to finally be releasing this mod. Of course, this mod wouldn’t be what it is now without the help from my music composers and voice actors, all of whom have been excellent to work with. I thank them all for helping me with this project.
For those wondering what Dissolution is: Dissolution is a science-fiction, single-player mod that places great focus on fun gameplay, strong plot, interesting environments and dramatic characters. Dissolution encourages players to piece together its plot and does this through character interaction, audio logs (giving you various points of view) and environmental story-telling.
I hope you enjoy Dissolution and, regardless of whether or not you do, I welcome your feedback.

loved it, simple but to the point, an oldie but a goodie, i got a couple
questions tho, they're not very important, i'm simply asking out of curiosity:
1: how is wilson communicating with the player, is it a radio? since i don't
hear any static i figured it was some sort of telepathy
2: is the protag ok? his hands look all weird (gloves, maybe?) i wonder what he looks like lol
basically, loved it, as well as the setting of this and the other mods you made, it's like bioshock mixed with a bit of borderlands
Thanks for the comment! To answer your questions:
1. As hinted in a few logs, Wilson "enhanced" the player's character to, among other things, be more "hard-wearing". Though not stated, I also imagined that he implanted a communication/radio link system so he could give his puppet orders.
2. It was my attempt at leather gloves! :D
Glad you enjoyed the mod!
Yo, it's me again.
The game launches perfectly, but when I click on "New Game", it crashes, with the error message reading:
188/ - func_wall: UTIL_SetModel: not precached: *18
EDIT: Okay, I messed around with the "map" command, and I was able to load all the maps, except for "background01" and "intro".
I'm really not sure what the cause of your issue is. I can't replicate it locally.
A dirty workaround which will allow you to play most of the game... in console execute:
map waste_management
waste_management is the start of the mod's gameplay, so you'll get 95% of the campaign if you play from there.
It worked!
For some reason whenever I try to launch the game, it just crashes instantly, Please, please tell me how to fix this. Your mod looks amazing and I just want to play it, please respond asap.
Thank you for reporting.
What was the error message? And did you install the 1.1 patch ( Moddb.com )?
Sorry for not responding, there was no error message, and I installed the patch and put it into the patches folder. I also put source sdk 2013 singleplayer on upcoming.
When you say 'patches' folder, where do you mean? The dissolution2011 folder in the patches zip should be installed over the top of the existing dissolution2011 directory to overwrite some of its files.
Again, sorry. I mean that I put the dissolution patch into the folder that's named patches, are you telling me to just place the patch anywhere in the folder?
There should be a dissolution2011 directory in your steamapps/sourcemods directory. You should extract the patch to overwrite that directory.
Right-click Sdk 2013 singleplayer, go to properties, betas, select 'upcoming'.
