Contra is a freeware modification for Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour real-time strategy game and one of the first mods for this game. Hi people!!!

We are still making gameplay changes every day in order to balance the game. Fixing bugs, and inserting new stuff.

This time most changes got Infantry general. Introducing "Patria Family" vehicles, which will replace existing troop crawlers, Feng Yong artillery and ECM tank.

First one is machine gun troop crawler

Available at rank 1, armed with machinegun, which is effective vs. infantry and air units. Replaces gatling troop crawler. Has 4 sitplaces for your soldiers.

Anti tank troop crawler

Armed with light anti tank turret, available at rank 1. Has 3 sitplaces (4th goes for turret operator)

Artillery troop crawler

Render3

Replaces old artillery. Available at rank 1. Has 3 sitplaces.

Propaganda troop crawler.

Render4

Available at rank 3. Heals forces and gives firepower bonus. As the previous propaganda TC, has 8 sitplaces.

ECM troop crawler

Render5

Replaces old ECM tank. Deviates missiles, turns off vehicles. Has 4 sitplaces and available at rank 3. Great addition to your forces.

Grenade troop crawler

Best troop crawler version. Available at rank 3. Armed with grenade launcher, effective vs. all ground targets. Has 4 sitplaces.

All troop crawlers can be upgraded at rank 3 with special "Advanced Engineering" upgrade. This upgrade gives all troop crawlers additional health, and allows them to move over water. But due to all the weight, they lose their speed. So you will have to decide if you want the upgrade or not, depending on situation.

Some other small visual changes are with flame general. Immolator tank got new "Dragon Tail" turret. This turret shoots Lava shells, which are effective vs. everything. But mostly used vs. tanks.

And last one goes to Cybernetic general. Commando unit got a new model.

Predator is working with AI lately, and also he is improving and adding new stuff to challenge maps. Many animals were inserted in maps, and maps are looking better with each change.

At the end, I need to say thanks to TheHunter649 , he is giving me some advices with new things I encounter (about coding), and sharing codes with me.

Don't you think these new Troop Crawlers look a bit too... simple? You may want to add more variant-specific details, like holders, ammo boxes or armor plates, depending of the variant. I like how the textures are not overwhelmed by black gradient, this is really nice.

This dragon tail: does the red line use housecolor, or it is red by default?

Perhaps i can add some unique objects, but the thing is, all Troop crawlers are using one Texture (512x512) and one for turrets.

If i add different variants, then i need to add different textures. This will consume more space and game Engine.

Yes, red object is housecolor. It changes in game.

Albeit made sense from an realism standpoint, they all look similar and i would rather prefer different purpose units to look reasonably different than each other for easy quick recognition.
I mean i shouldnt narrow my eyes and have to look around for the one with the correct turret shape in midst of combat to select the anti-infantry ones in the anti-tank blob.

This really isnt the case. You all are a bit confused, but actually they look good in game, and they are easy recognized. Ecm crawler has decal on ground, propaganda has red light pulses, tank and artillery have turrets which are seen from space, and you can recognize them by cannons. Machinegun is unique, only small problem could be cause machinegun and grenade are a bit similar. But this is not any kind of problem actually when you play. It was tested.

I don't understand why not Chinese type 09 family but Finnish Patria family,I mean Gen Fei is Chinese general so he should use Chinese weapon...

It's good that all the troopcrawlers have become standardized.
This "Dragon tail" is awesome too.
Have you removed those clown crawlers with jet engines, that hadn't had fire ports?)))

Shandians (Jet Crawlers) were not be removed. They are fast all-passable transports. They are not fighting units, thus no fire ports.

But the only thing I cannot apply is Lasers' Burtons' lightsaber - wtf men...itsn't Star Wars. Crashing vechiles with the sword...Jesus...and Overlodrs too? And other big vechiles like drone controller etc.
Just think...this idea is awful...itsn't Contra-style.

Laser Burton was useless against vehicles. The lightsaber was a solution for his weakness, but that could change in the future.

nope... laser burton not useless against vehicles... so why not changing weapon of burton??? like using laser sniper... or laser minigun... or normal sniper(but more better using laser)... or anything else... or changing his bomb to rail gun or something...

So...Am I the only one who thinks that Exlosion general is too concentrated on suicide? Playing this general almost reduces to production of disposable units, and it feels not so good.
Next...why not to add some air units (not these mrfckng kamikaze) to GLA? At least just a simple airplane type of SU-25 (role: anti-ground, 2 lvl), it isn't space technology really...so why not?

I'm afraid that would make him a universal general. Having great suicide units, but better tanks at the same time sounds like a deadly combination. His play style is to produce kamikazes. His defense is strong - good artillery, defense sites, all kinds of mines. Combine the mass production of kamikazes with Scorpions, Marauders and Crop Dusters and you have the very best GLA general in all situations.

you right... if GLA given an airplane like SU-25... GLA will dominating Contra... it has jarmen kell,toxic(toxin) to kill infantry... sucide units,tank,variation of rockets to kill tank... quad cannon,variation of rockets to kill airplane... much artillery,sucide units,cheap & powerful tanks,deadly angrymob,anoying jarmen kell,stealth units,... and if added a plane to GLA... -_-

And it's just my lolly opinion that GLA doesn't need cycled infantry.
This *** only spoils the view of barracks' panel.

Infantry and cycled infantry don't have much in common. GLA is usually focused on mobility. However, cycled infantry is not always a better option. You might want to mix your attacks with vehicles and infantry in order to make it harder to counter by the enemy. Bikers are easy to kill and are vulnerable to more enemies (everything anti-personnel and anti-tank) in comparison... Infantry on foot is superior to cycled infantry in most situations except mobility.

Ive just meant that GLA really doesn't need these cycles. It spoils the view and creates an impression of motor racing, not war...)
The only exeption - is cycled worker, that is good at demo-traps building.

Bikers can be useful in combat. Surprise attacks can be performed with Rebel Bikers (capturing buildings behind enemy lines) and RPG Bikers (flanking enemy artillery), Terrorist Bikers catch up with all opponents, Hijacker and Saboteur Bikers sabotage enemies quickly. I've seen this being done and I do it myself. Have you played multiplayer? Playing comp stomp is quite a different gameplay story.

I think the Patria family crawlers' colour and textures look a bit out of place compared to other Chinese vehicles.

So there's no Gatling Artillery anymore? I really miss it.
So Dragon Tail upgrade shoots Lava Shells, so is it visually similar to Irradiator Tank's projectile?
Is Attack Outpost will be changed (or removed)? And will have 6 sit places just as mentioned in the game?
So Cybernetic Commando will lose its flight mode?
Sometimes I get infantry projectiles appear from outside the transport.
I thought Gatling guns are the trade mark for Infantry General. Why did you remove the Gatling Arsenal?
What about Dragon Tank? does he will have Patria style? does it fires flame grenade just like the old one?
Is anti tank troop crawler's fire power and armor match with vanilla battle master or it is cheaper and weaker?
