Colonial is a mod set in the near future, it is about a conflict between to different factions of soldiers, one fighting for Earths government and the other an alliance of former Earth colonies intending to stay independant from Earth.

The mod will be realistic, which means it will still be fun to play but won't have unrealistic features such as double jump, bunny hopping and other death matchy(not a word but i don't care) stuff.

The mod will have two teams, and the United Colonial Alliance. It will feature 4 game types -

Raid - It is like the classic assault mode from the original UT but the attackers need to return to their dropship or APC after they have completed there objective

Survivor - One team must get to a point on the map and the other team must kill them before they get there.

Hostile Takeover - This mode involves the attacking team capturing enemy points (e.g in a base) and the defenders trying to stop them. Once a point has been captured it cannot be reclaimed

The mod will also feature multiple player classes including Engineer, Medic and Heavy/Light marines. There will also be various vehicles.

Weapons in the mod are all bullet based which means NO LASERS(lasers = star trek, star trek = beard, beard = not good), weapons include various rifles, shotguns and machineguns, they will all have there own pro's and cons. There will also be various tools which can be used by certain classes, like blowtorches, IR goggles etc.

The class system will be made so that teams are as balanced as possible. There will not be dud classes such as the pyro in TFC(tfc pyro fans send hate mail to VexD) Every class will have a use, meaning that you will not be able to have a team of engineers or a team of snipers etc. What this will achieve we hope is a game that the people who wanna lone gun get hammered and the people who like having friends and working as a team will have alot of fun playing.

Maps will be set in various places such as various planets, space stations in orbit and large space craft. (Space stations and Space craft setting will be mostly for the Raid gametype)
The various planet settings will include giant forest worlds, artic style ice worlds, desert worlds and also just plain old normal worlds. The marines uniforms on the player models and equipment will reflect the world they are fighting on eg White camo and thick clothing on the Ice worlds and Desert camo and the Desert worlds.

(The ideas here are watered down from our plan file and are constantly changing)

As for the mods Atmosphere and inspirations think Space:Above and beyond + Starship Troopers with no Aliens and your almost there :p

Hey everybody,

Long time no news, this mod is pretty much on hold atm :/

Some or none of you may of noticed that the website is down and we have no new concept art or model renders up. I did have some renders to put up but tbh the whole HL2 set back thing has kinda of thrown us off course also several team members are MIA or have started University which is sucking up most of their time.

Rest assured though, i will get the website back up and running with some shiny forums and when i speak to Vex, i'll get some of his renders off him :)

This mod, like 95% of the other ambitious mods listed on this website, looks dead. R.I.P.

Yet its decomposing corpse still stinks up the database.

The admins REALLY need to do some cleansweeping. They'll find the database relatively sparse, or at least a lot less crowded when they finish.

that's cool - staying with projectile weapons promotes a grittier, harder more realistic future, laser's are for fairies, quite frankly. ;)

i really enjoy those types of games aswell and also sci-fi films and televisions series. We really hope to capture the atmosphere created in programs like Space: Above and beyond etc in Colonial with a few of our own touches aswell :D
