Following the GZDoom port of Doom 64, BD-64 revitalizes the old Doom 64 with new special effects, particles, lightning, gore, new sounds, more weapon animations (shotgun reloads, smoother minigun barrels, etc.) and monsters and stuff cut from the original Nintendo 64 version. Works on GZDoom and Zandronum in OpenGL mode. (Zdoom and Zandronum Software mode are not supported.) No downloads available yet. Mod still is very early WIP.

I prefer with the face, but this version is good for me.

i've always personally prefered the version without face myself,
and imo it doesnt make sense to have the 'user' text & face by WW in doom64

Flynn Taggart is the protagonist from doom, not from doom64 ;)

thanx :)

its really just a simply recolor of WW's hud to change the colors to dark-red
dont think its that impressive to recolor something in paintshop pro ^^;

haha no need for that :) and really? :o it looks a lot smoother and not as pixelated than the original! I like it :)
(also i saw that face before you changed it ;P)

oh the smoothness in my screenshot would be because of me using the 'XBRZ 4x' filter from the newest GZdoom builds

you should try it, the new xbrz filters really make doom64 look absolutely gorgeous :D
they make everything look really sharp & smooth and they enhance doom64's sprites and textures really nicely

Hey Tal! Flynn Taggart is only the name of the protagonist in the not really canon books. In Doom RPG, the protagonist BJ Blazcowicz III (a descendant of the Wolfenstein character) is implied to be the same guy as in Doom 1, 2 and 3. And Doom 2016 reveals that Doomguy is one and the same in every game, including Doom64 (he is retrieved from Hell by the UAC).

oh ok.... didnt know that cuz i never played the doom RPG and i dont care for doom2016

ah well, either way i still dont like the name-tag thing
as i dont care for feeling like i am the doom-guy

I'd much rather just be private talisa instead :)

Private Talisa, nice! Doomguy shouldn't have a name anyway, because according to John Romero Doomguy is supposed to be the player.

Note that the protagonists in Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil and Doom 3: Lost Mission are two different characters than the one in the main series. And in Doom RPG 2 it's Stan Blazcowicz, a supposedly cousin of BJ. Every other iteration is the same, the legendary Doom Slayer who has fought demons throughout all eternity (it's not explained, but that would of course involve time travel at some point).

Nice Addon.
Since the UDV hasnt been updated for BD64 this is a good alternative and the colors fits the ambience.

this is an edit of the old basic no-frills hud,
which is compatible with any mods/maps and can even be used in MP

if you want fancy features like ammo-list and such,
there's Saegiru's Ultimate DoomVisor HUD for that: Moddb.com

i seen people mention you can use it with BD64 by only loading
the base pk3 of the hud and NOT loading the BD64-alpha module

I'm not being able to load it, I'm sorry...
I've edited both the zandronum.ini and zandronum-username.ini, in several ways; and on BD64 I have made sure the alternate HUD is off and ajusted screensize, but the HUD is not showing up, I couldn't get it work not even by Googling.
So I'm stuck here and humbling asking for detailed help. Please and thanks!

my only guess would be to make sure to load it AFTER brutal doom 64.
brutal doom64 also includes a custom hud of its own to look like doom64's hud

also dont just drop the hud pk3 into the skins folder,
as that will cause it to get loaded BEFORE brutal doom64
cuz of zandronum loading the files in alphabetical order

Thanks for your reply, talisaqilin.
What you're saying, it makes sense and I understand it. My question is, HOW to do this? Do you use any tool for this or what files and how do you configure it?

I use ZDL to run Brutal Doom, but you can only install one per system instead of one per game folder, and it's already a mess because of Brutal Doom and Project Brutality management, so (to the best of my knowledge) adding Brutal Doom 64 would mess the thing to breakage.

To run BD 64 (v.1c) I just run the executable on the folder, via a shortcut on the desktop.
So how can I manage the pk3 loading order? Should I edit the zandronum.ini and/or zandronum-username.ini files? Any special section?

Thank you so much!

you can easily make a batch file yourself to do this

create a txt file inside the zandronum folder.
open it with notepad, and add something like this in there:
bd64.exe -file BD64\bd64gameV1c.pk3 BD64\bd64mapsV1c.pk3 BD64\ZD64MUSIC.PK3 bd64\doomvisor_hudWW_D64.pk3

in my example, i moved all the brutal doom64 files into a folder i simply called 'bd64'

then in notepad, click 'file' > 'save as',
and at 'save as type' select 'all files',
and save your file as a bat, like brutaldoom64.bat

then simply double-click on the batch-file you just created and voila,
zandronum will load the files in the order that you put them in the batch-file

weapon names? this hud doesnt have a weapon-list or such?

this hud is a basic no-frills hud which only shows ammo, health and armor and nothing else

.

if you want more fancy features like weapon-list and such, you can always just use saegiru's ultimate doomvisor hud Moddb.com

it works just fine with BD64 if you load it without any B-module

It worked! Thanks talisaqilin!

At the end, on the batch file I had to remove the reference of BD64's own pk3 files, remaing only

bd64.exe -file doomvisor_hudWW_D64.pk3

As simple as it can get! Thanks!

PS - Our technical difficulties have been sorted out. Now back to the carnage... ;)

Is this mod still going to get updated? You're right i prefer that there will be no face and name tag on the visor coz its kinda odd however this one had no magazine count just ammo count . Its kinda important to know how much rounds left in your mag to be aware esp. when moving into floor by floor i hope you update this one
