Change heretic gameplay to be about whacking a monsters, instead shooting them. Set of weapons as well monster behavior is altered to support that. Theme is more "prosaic" and less magic. Bitter is .pk3 mod for GZDoom, it doesnt work with Zandronum. I remember in 94 that I was playing vanilla with gauntlets or staff, imagining that im a warrior with a sword. This is how Heretic should have been.

-the added High Def textures are cool, and you added what I have been craving for for Heretic which was destructible barrels and contains and the like. The mod is pronominal but the new combat and movement isn't my particular cup of tea.

-If possible, I would love to see a separate mod/WAD that just had the Quality of Life improvements you've done, the destructible barrels and items, textures, the new and awesome smooth animations and deaths, etc etc. What the entire Heretic/Hexen series truly needs is more optional QoL improvements across the board, especially more lore friendly enemy variants. The series is very underrated in my eyes and deserves most attention.

you (or any one) can edit my mod in Slade and copy paste whatever want into new mod. Trust me its easy, you need only to start. You have my full consent. I do not do it myself, because its no fun for me (i do medieval doom however, because i want to play doom maps :).

new combat - vanilla heretic is just doom reskin. Very first time i launch it i want to be a medieval warrior. I even play it poking monster with stick, imagine its a sword :'-)

movement - in doom games when you press shift, you are transform into jet engine, the move speed is insane. It kill all the vibe.
in my mod you move 1.2x walk speed. and with hidden weapon with 1.5 speed. If you use Krater you move total 1.8 (vanilla run speed is 2.0).

plus in my mod you can lift barrel (or fungus) or you can climb.

I love heretic, during the work on this mod i play each 5 episodes to death, i stare counltess hours on each monster pixel in each rotation. And now when i launch the game, it has no charm.

secundo. i dont have any other idea, for what to add, change or alter. the version here is slightly older than the one on gzdoom forum, maybe i upload the newer file.

from the start i want to add completly new drawn monster, but drawing 100+sprites for just basic dude is out of question (maybe if learn Blender :D)

I would love in the near future more mods for Heretic, Hexen, and Hexen 2 come out. With Graven and similar games on the way hopefully it will help inspire other modders and maybe even Raven software to remaster or make new titles
