Eurofighter is the premier air-superiority fighter developed and deployed by the consortium of 4 nations: U.K., Germany, Italy and Spain. The aircraft features intrinsically unstable design, canards, and digital fly by wire system, giving it a high level of maneuverability and agility. Kinetically speaking, the aircraft even posses an edge over the American's F-22. In addition to its high performance air frame, the aircraft also carries state-of-the art avionics and sensors. Starting from 2013, the modernized Eurofighter, the Tranche 3 standard aircraft, would be equipped with the very long range advanced Captor-E radar, featuring a re-position-able, active electronically scanning array (AESA), with a range of more than 300km for large targets, and a scanning angle of 210 degrees. Paired with the EuroFIRST Pirate IRST, an IR scanning image sensor which can locate, track and categorize hot objects, like fighter aircraft (range varies depend on speed or heading, that is head on, or chasing. Chasing would expose the hot tail pipe and gives a longer range) or missiles, at range in excess of 100 km, the Eurofighter would pose an information edge facing a wide range of aerial threats. What's more, the aircraft can also carry the long range, highly maneuverable Meteor missiles, with a maximum range in excess of 150km and, and a no-escape-zone of 100km. That is, in 100km's range, the enemy fighter would find it hard to out run the missile (Compared to that of the American AMRAAM's ~33km). The higher performance of the missile comes from its ramjet propulsion, which uses the oxygen in the air around the missile to burn its fuel, instead of carrying the heavy oxygen itself. And this gives it a lighter fuselage, and more persistant propulsion, all contributing to longer range and higher missile maneuverability for achieving the final stage of intercept.
