Love the idea of this, and we started playing, but it was skipping maps/parts of the campaign (were we doing something wrong as we started from the beginning and did not try and modify/tweak anything)...

Was really hoping to play the ENTIRE game form start to finish with a firend.

I have to agree slightly/in a similar way, a really good base model, but she could do with a bit mor of a curve to her hips, and with the corset like under bust piece it would create a bit more overhang with the breasts on the underside so they probably could do with being a pintch bigger.

The back of the coat looks a little to streight(as in no folds in it solid) and little dirt/dust grime on the texture would add some realism :)

:) Glad you like the end result, and I get what you mean now :P, everything is discussed before added and after, the concepts are not all taken as set in stone plans but ships would typically have things like the antenna, slightly different shape and to a degree poly limits so :D

Oh I completly agree with the practical side of it but.. I'm not sure how much JK wants to stay pure to the original game or if he is moving away from it with ideas like this...

I love a good Pew Pew as well though :D, can you imagine the panic for the pilot, the EMP knocks out his ship and all he can do is sit in horror as the entier Frigate turns to fire the Ion beam at him!.

While its not my mod I will admit the name is somewhat simplistic in its nature.

As for updated ships the current plan and my involvement is to remake the ships with more detail and where possible take details from the concepts as they are by nature more detailed than the game model of the respective ship.

I would count than as "Remastered" however silly that word sounds, we are bringing the current ships up to date/or at least closer to current date graphics...

If the word you choose is updated/improved/High Rez/HD/Remastered/Remade...To me its all along the same lines.

They still resemble the original, they have not been re envisioned...

I mean no insult at all but other than your dislike of the name....re are working our way through the existing ships, not making new designs (at least yet, JK might have over plans).

Yeah ok, I was actually (my poor assumption) comparing between the final and previous version so :P.

Overal the proportions of the ship are the same but in adding detail there are move surfaces, some things did and didnt work so its just chance etc that the final version might have slight differences in a few places (length and scale).

The bridge is not any shorter (of if it is, only fractionally).

And the engine has not been moved down.

The illusion is that we moved the back of the bridge back and it now has some bulk over the engine, so a fraction of the top slope now extends into the base of the bridge.

JK has the final model for any renders.

I'm helping out when I have the time, and I get little quick model projects to practice on aside from my larger projects off Mod.

We are still testing work flows as with the frigs being the same base model there has been a lot of back and forth.

It was my opinion to try and keep the bridge and engines as close to the original concept, and the final version was a fitting compromise which I actually like quite a lot.

I think the age of the game and fond memories of it (I have them), might be the main reason why people are critical of any change of design, but in my eyes the original concepts are how they envisioned them without any limits...

The the detail/processing power at the time limited them, removing this the concepts are a superb basis to update the majority of ship designs without straying to far from the point.

Else with no real detail/anything else to go on thats not us re designing and adding out own ideas we might as well just open the original models, hit mesh smooth and save them :P.

IMO.
