Hey,

Started playing 2.666.

First bug (or is it intentional?):

In Holding Area (Map 04), 4 switches do not work properly, the sequence should be 3 1 2 4, but as soon as I press the No 3, all cylinders rise, making it impossible to jump to the secret exit.

I will update more as soon as I find more issues.

New weapons are cool, I did not really notice a significant difference between 2 rocket types, rocket launcher should be much more powerful in my opinion. Kicks remain powerful even after berserk is faded away (intentional?).

Monsters are really powered up, especially the stalkers (green lost souls) are quite tough.

Is there a correct sequence to start the .Pk3's?

I have all vanilla Dooms, I think the correct one is Doom2.wad?

UPD: **** my life, Outcast levels are working, you can start with Destroy!

Sorry for asking the same question before reading the other comments, styd051 apparently already said many times that he stopped working on that, my mistake.

I prefer the version (BD TC 1.4 as far as I remember) where those 4 levels are fully integrated into the game, since they are so good, they don't even appear strange in the gameplay.

Where can I download BD64 v2.666? Search function does not show up anything and the BD V2.5 does not contain those extras.

Hi,

So far so good, except the small motorcycle jump issue which requires noclip in Holocaust level. It was not possible to jump to the other side, or at least I did not manage it.

Interesting enough, the walkthrough videos I checked on Youtube proved otherwise, however, the bike is much faster there (videos were not from the last version of the mod, though)?

Is there a trick to speed it up?

Just started playing, everything is great and Doom 3 style which I strongly prefer over the "classics" aka rip & tear, but quickly stopped due to this black smoke.

The existence of it is not really a problem, but its invincibility and enormous speed is. It really ruins the game to make the player put up with it.

An alternative would be that it only would kill you if you take a wrong detour, wrong area, wrong room, but not else.

Second option would be making it very strong, but still "killable".

Hope you will make some revision.

Aside from that, it's fantastic, thanks for your efforts.

There is no problem with the music. It works OK.
Flashlight also works.

There is no bug report since you can continue playing, but without the mentioned secrets.

I asked my brother to test it once again, strange enough, the same problems appeared.

I'm really clueless why it is happening.

Just finished the game, thanks for your efforts.

Mandatory feedback section:

Bugs:

- There is no unmaker in Outpost Omega secret level, but only the first power-up (crate is empty)

- When you select randomly replace BFG with Unmaker, all BFGs become unmakers

- Bars cannot be opened in secret level "In the Void", the earthquake which should happen just before the exit does not work (or there is no button on the right side like in BD 64 from Sergeant)

- 2 out of 4 secrets in secret level "Lair" cannot be opened (the one in the
central area and the one in the deeper tunnel behind the bars, hitting gargoyle does not work

- 3rd secret in Level "No escape" is missing

No bugs, but nice to have:

- Do you plan to include retribution levels (Nukage facility, crisis, forbidden deeper, etc.) like in vanilla BD64?

- Do you plan to include outcast levels?

- Difficulty levels are significantly manipulated, watch me die is far easier than original BD 64. Is it on purpose?

How the hell can I complete E4M2 with plenty of Barons, but without ammo?

Your video on Youtube is from the old version where you have more ammo and heavier weapons, after killing so many barons, I have no bullets for yellow door barons :(

Even in normal difficulty, I've been trying hard, but I cannot kill them with fists.

No, i finished the original three episodes from doom 1 knee deep, shores, inferno). Will continue with 4th (thy flesh) and doom 2.

I get your point for weak monsters and baron, fair enough. BFG, ok, different style, different weapon.

Nevertheless, rocket launcher must be easier to find and more powerful in my opinion.
Don't understand why grenade launch option has more damage either, a direct hit inflicts more damage than the explosion in all FPSs. Would be nice if you check it again for the new version, of course I don't know what other people think.

Just finished the original 3 levels, ready to give some more feedback, let's start with the good points:

- Atmosphere is really great, especially in the third episode with hellish level design & dark ambient, it gives somewhat Doom 64 atmosphere what I really like (D64 is really my favorite Doom ever)

- Even with separate ammo for shotgun(s), machine gun(s) and so on, you can survive. For traditional gamers like me, it's a bit difficult to adapt, though: Normally I never use plasma gun to keep ammo for BFG :))

- New gadgets i.e. soul cube, replacement of marines with new power ups are of great help, especially the cube with full power

- Nice to see that melee is useful even without berserk

- Gasoline for chainsaw is a small, but nice detail

- Climbing and crawling imps are scary

- many others..

But, I would like to state some points that may be improved even more:

- There is a significant imbalance between the monsters. Easy monsters are really easy while big ones have become too powerful, like Baron of Hell. A bit more balance would be better. If you prefer to keep the Baron as it is, see the below point

- Rocket launcher is very difficult to find (i found more BFG cells than rockets in the third episode!) and significantly underpowered. Its explosion (especially direct hits) can be increased by 40-50%. It really doesn't make any sense to shoot 10 rockets to kill a baron while one BFG shot or soul cube destroys him. I'd prefer the original rocket launcher from Brutal Doom with aiming as well.

- Shotgun and SSG are too powerful, one SSG kills Cacodemon directly, 2 shots would be a bit more balanced

- Boss levels are a joke, even my grandmother can kill cyberdemon very easily. This makes the game a bit upside down: First levels are far more difficult than the last.

Those are my thoughts, I will review Doom 2 as well as soon as I find some time to play.

In the options section, it would be nice to have the combined ammo option (I mean BDBE options like damnation, blinking, etc.) while keeping the rest the same. Because currently, player can carry lots of weapons while there is no ammo. Perhaps an intermediate solution, the more weapons player carries, the slower, or maybe some limit (only 1 pistol, 1 shotgun/rifle and 1 rocket, something like that) etc.

Some more comments and potential improvements if I may:

- After fatalities, the small health and armor shards should always add, not only until 100.

- The annoying Doom 3 flashlight battery can be added (player must turn it off and turn on again after a while)

- I think ammo quantities can be increased a bit, also there are lots of BFG ammos in Ultimate Doom levels while there is no BFG itself until boss level.

It's a very different experience, quite unique. Kind of Doom with Doom 3 experience.

However, it is a little bit too difficult even at the normal level IMO.

Especially ammo is very difficult to find, it makes secret levels close to impossible: you can't do a lot with the pistol against 6 baron of hells and 8 cacodemons in a small room LOL (unless you trigger monster infighting).

Splitting shotgun/super shotgun and rifle/minigun ammo is also a killer.

Unfortunately it doesn't work. I tried all of different combinations (SQL, direct darkplaces, overwriting, etc.

I bet that Quake 1.5 mod is not foreseen for the expansion packs and incompatible with that, let's hope that bloodshot will add the expansions packs to his Quake 1.5 package :)

A bit more details regarding the issue:

As for Scourge of Armagon (hipnotic) expansion pack, I managed to get the weapons by copying progs and csprogs.dat files into hipnotic folder (not sure whether it makes sense or not), but some monsters become "colorful pyramids" which is a minor annoyance. However, from the 2nd level H1M2 on, the force field does not work, making access to the silver key impossible (only rocket jump). But after getting the silver key, the underwater door cannot be opened (only way is noclip).Quick kick, flashlight and grenades do not work.

As for Dissolution of Eternity (rogue) expansion pack, the game almost worked perfect, except the CTF flags here and there, when you touch them they are counted as silver or gold keys, making you unable to pick up the genuine keys. in R1M7, doors are not opening since you cannot pick up the silver key and in the last level R1M8, the lift doesn't work (i used noclip to proceed). In the R2M1, the exit teleporter remains blocked (i proceeded to the 2nd level with noclip, too). Quick kick, flashlight and grenades work.

Dimension of the past - WORKS PERFECTLY, just finished.

Arcane dimensions - HD graphics of the maps work, weapons and fonts remain old school. Did not play extensively. Ammos, medikits etc. are HD.

When starting the expansion packs (from options), weapons are not visible (but you can shoot) and new features do not work (grenades, kick, flashlight, etc.)?

Same here, I cannot even imagine Doom without BD, for me it has become an intangible part of doom and I don't consider it as a mod anymore.

Unfortunately, BD 64 does not have the same quality as "vanilla BD" (unbalanced difficulties, very weak and limited weapons/monsters, no fatalities, etc.) and unfortunately Sgnt is no longer interested in BD 64.. BD 64 Black E. also remained alpha :(

We had this chat before on the BD 64 page. If you played it as such and 95% of the game did work perfectly, you can erroneously consider the 5% as bug, :)

If someone can "fix" those scripts, it would be even greater, I am not good at that.
