About: DoomDb is a group in Moddb where you can share all the best kinds of Doom WADs out there! (As long as the rules are followed)

Rules:
1- Always credit the owner. You should also link the owner's homepage when sharing (although that is optional).
2- Its okay to share/post updates about WADs that you are making. If you are going to do this though, don't spam the page with its stuff. A picture or link is always enough ;)
3- Avoid sharing Terry WADs.
4- Avoid any kind of serious discussion in the comments. This group is for sharing WADs and having fun. If the user persists then the comments/image could get deleted.
5- Contact the author and ask for permission before uploading a wad up here, unless your uploading wads that give you permission to distribute the file in their readme or if they are very old (more than 10 years). Having their mod uploaded in multiple places by other people can make it difficult to ensure everyone is using the latest version. If you are unable to contact the author, or the author says no, then simply don't upload it.

WadHosts:
Wadhost.fathax.com
Doom.dogsoft.net
drdteam.org
Doomworld.com
Wadsinprogress.info
Wad-archive.com
Best-ever.org

Top Wads:
Many have debated, many have fought, but there is one source that keeps on recognition to those whom stand out from the rest. It started with Cacoawards, but since then a top 100 wads of all time list was started, to cover every year since Doom's release.

Ports:

Doom 1 and 2 are long in the tooth but that doesn't stop modders from keeping it running on modern systems. Numerous ports that enhance the game to have many options, features, graphical improvements and bug fixes to keep it in tip top shape. The most notable of which:

LZDoom and ZDoom, its offshoot GZDoom (maintained by Graf Zahl), and Legacy (opengl, scaling, texture filtering, mod compatibility and customization focused ports, if you want to run the game in vulkan for a performance boost, try the GZDoom sourceport).
Zandronum (older version was called Skulltag, a cooperative and competitive multiplayer support focused source port).
Samsara (Also a cooperative and competitive multiplayer source port)
Vavoom
, K8 Vavoom and Doomsday (advanced md2 model, lighting and hi-res texture ports).
Chocolate Doom (or similar ones; Crispy Doom or Doom Retro, limit-removing with some enhanced features, all three are faithful nostalgic ports).
Chocolate Strife (never had its source code released but this is the next best thing).

Guys, I found this creepy Doom 2 wad that for some reason wasn't uploaded here in moddb. Title is "Somnambulism."

I'm self-promoting (shamelessly and only this time) a weapon set I've cobbled up in my spare time named "Commandoomer." Semi-inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger's one-man army movie named Commando, it's an overpowered weapon set that might help you especially in slaughter maps.

Any recommended Doom 2 horror-themed wads to play? Please don't say Brutal Doom.

brutal doom was fine in the beginning when it was extra blood for doom, then it turned into some crud

For some time, I was one of those drones who think that Brutal Doom was the only way for me to play Doom until the novelty wore off over time. I almost feel sorry to those people who used to think like me, never realizing that there are other great mods out there that aren't Brutal Doom.

For sure. A couple of mods (like Complex Doom, DoomRL, D4T and other mods for example) have been filled with new players in the comments section saying "Please make it compatible with Brutal Doom!!!".

Brutal Doom did really cause lots of changes and controversies in the Doom Modding Community.

It's quite annoying for other people to ask Brutal Doom compatibility and then they throw tantrums when it isn't. They act like children who didn't get their favorite toy from their parents.

"They act like children who didn't get their favorite toy from their parents."

You perfectly described people who think BD is the best mod and ignore other mods, like sastel mentioned.

Self-promoting my blog. 😊

To be fair, this is the only version of Brutal Doom that I still care about.

"Please make it compatible with Brutal Doom!!!"

This right there, some random person will ask a modder to make their mods compatible with Brutal Doom while being insensitive to the modder at the same time. As if BD is the only way to play Doom nowadays while ignoring the other Doom mods. These people seriously need to stop worshipping a mod like this like it's their god.

To be fair, A lot of people prefer BD compatibility for the hitbox/crit system, as well as the improved enemies. I myself am one of them, but I don't beg for compatibility. lol

Have you tried this?

Moddb.com

There are others, but they haven't been updated in ages and probably won't work on the latest GZDoom.

I'll give this a try, I personally prefer the older versions of GZDoom anyway. Thanks so much.
