Grim Dawn is developed by a small indie team of experienced developers, led by the lead gameplay designer of Titan Quest, using an enhanced version of the Titan Quest engine and tools. Please note that this game is still in development.
You can currently play about the first 1/3 of Grim Dawn and up to character level 25, with some additional higher level secret areas to be found beyond the main story content. While content is still in development, the core gameplay is already fairly robust and a lot of fun. There is quite a lot of replay value between trying different classes / builds and collecting items. We're still refining gameplay based on player feedback, adding requested features and working to deliver the remaining content and additional slated features. Most players report that the current build is fairly stable with mostly mild bugs and we're always working to fix bugs as they come up. Here is some of the stuff we plan to roll out in the coming months:
We expect the final game will provide about 20-40 hours for a first-time play-through on normal difficulty, depending on level of exploration / clearing. This is our first game as a studio and we intend for Grim Dawn to be a continuing franchise, not just a one-off game. So it is important that we put in the time and effort to create something we're proud of, that will help us to earn a loyal fanbase for the future. We hope you'll come be part of this experience and help us to forge a strong new addition to the ARPG genre.
Humble Bundle has kicked off their summer sale, running until September 6th. Some great deals are on, up to 90% discount on some titles, and so here's our picks for five games on sale and a mod for each to get more bang for your buck!
Adds additional masteries from other mods. Cataclysm, Diablo 3, Grim Quest and NCFF masteries are included. ARPGs with an emphasis on player experimentation are all about trying different combinations of capabilities to see what you can rustle up, and so mods like this that add even more moving pieces enhance replayability for any metagaming player.
Have you ever wondered why the Tunnel is blocked by a boom gate? And how the hell does Pam drive through it when there is no visible access panel nearby? Well wonder no more! Because this mod is basically just to spite the design of one boom gate in a dark Tunnel. But there are a few reasons that everyone else would rather take the bus. The road just happens to be very long, and sometimes there are monsters roaming about. You'll either want to bring a sword with you, or just run, really fast.
Game of Thrones total conversions are popular for any fantasy game, and whilst Warband had more than a couple, this mod was one of the first to bring Westeros to Bannerlord. Featuring Westeros and a large chunk of Essos, nineteen new kingdoms, eleven new cultures, and hundreds upon hundreds of new weapons and armours to chase alongside new quests, it's a great start for a scene still finding its footing.
The Witcher 3 is a critically acclaimed game, with a deep story, fantastic visuals, and reasonably solid gameplay. That being said, the latter is the sticking point for many people, who feel its gameplay still doesn’t quite match up to the rest on offer. This mod aims to revise the gameplay loop, beginning as a small personal retooling, and expanding into a total revamp. With new inventory systems, the removal of the EXP levelling system in favour of a skill-based level schema, and even new attacks that can be unlocked through practise, the mod brings a fresh take forwards on The Witcher 3’s gameplay.
Put simply, this mod adds new Generals (Lords) to Total War: Warhammer, for each of the factions rosters, all of which are based on Warhammer Fantasy tabletop. That means every character in this mod is LORE-FRIENDLY, and designed/balanced based on tabletop stats/abilities, and the existing design precedents from vanilla lords in Total War: Warhammer. It's really the only mod of its kind, bringing actual functional NEW Generals to the game, all with custom artwork, highly customized and heavily researched skills and abilities based on the canon and lore.
There's our picks for five games from Humble Bundle's summer sale, which runs until September 6th. What are your thoughts, and are there any other moddable games in this sale you're going to pick up?
