Using the Lord Of The Rings movie license, The Battle for Middle-earth is a Real-Time Strategy game based upon both the renown literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien, and the film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson. Players are given control of enormous armies in the many of the epic battles depicted in the film. From waging all-out combat among the vast forces of good and evil to controlling your favorite heroes and characters to managing the troops and resources of your side, the fate of a living, breathing Middle-earth is in the player's hands.
After loading this map once, you will have limitless zoom for all maps you start afterwards. The map hereby only deals as an agent/injector to trigger the engine bug exploit. So technically speaking it is a map but actually it's more a mod without actual mod.
This is a very special map (not a mod) that removes the camera zoom limitations completely (far and narrow zoom) by exploiting an engine bug.
You only need to run the map once, it will exit the map automatically for you.
After that you won't have zoom limitations anymore for all skirmish games !
The changes are not permanent and everything will be back to normal if you restart the game.
The following games are supported with this pack:
Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
Command and Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath
Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 Uprising
Command and Conquer 4
Lord of the Rings The Battle for Middle-earth 1
Lord of the Rings The Battle for Middle-earth 2
Lord of the Rings The Battle for Middle-earth 2 - Rise of the Witch-King
Unfortunately it doesn't work for:
Command and Conquer Generals
Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour
Command and Conquer Red Alert 3
How does this even work ?
It uses a map script that triggers an engine exploit by not reseting a special camera state.
In addition the depth of frustrum is set to a higher value to avoid black borders.
It's actually a very neat and usefull exploit for all sage engine games (post C&C Generals).
In Update 1.2 the frustrum depth is set to 100 for extremely high zooms without black borders.
Use Version 1.1 for frustrum depth of 3 in case undesired sideeffects happen.
Installation: Put the map folder "!RemoveZoomLimits" for the respective game into this folder (for your case):
I hereby grant anyone the permission to spread this without asking me. Giving credits is appreciated.
