Some Useful Goldsource Modding Resources
Goldsource modding tutorials are uncommon and are hard to find today. Many sites can only be viewed in the wayback archives. It is very hard to locate these resources (I couldn't find many of them on google) so I will post them here for everyone's convienience.
Russian Goldsource Modding Forum:
HLFX
I can't read Russian, so I use a translator, but be aware that this messes up some code, so disable it when copying or reading code snippets.
Valve Erc
TWHL's Mirror
Wayback's Archive
TWHL's Tutorials
Half-Life Programming Planet
Wayback's Archive of HLPP
This was available until mid 2013. Not sure why it's not anymore.
HL Programming
Wayback's Archive of HL Programming
Wavelength
Old wavelength Tutorials:
(Direct link to wayback archive of coding tutorials)
Then theres of course Gamebanana, but there aren't many HL tutorials there.
This is a very handy article for those who want to get into the swing of GoldSrc Modding.
Thank you.
No problem, I always like to see new modders get into the community!
A bit disappointed that hlfx disabled access to the tutorials part of the forums. I guess it requires an account now, but I immediately got my account removed after making it.
Yeah, it's even more difficult because google translate isn't always the easiest to understand. So good luck if you don't read Russian lol.
I at least know enough to make an account. So I'll try again and see if the tutorials are open to verified members. But, thank so much for these links!!
Wayback's Archive of HL Programming doesn't seem to be working for me.
All it does is bring me to a page with these symbols: //
Any idea why?
It works for me. Here is the direct(dead) link, you can try right into wayback yourself to see if that fixes it.
planethalflife.com / hlprogramming / tutorials.asp
F*cking awesome!!! Thanks a lot!! This is just too good.
Yeah no problem, its hard to find these resources, and it can make starting in Goldsource much easier.
You forgot one thing, Gamer-lab.com . It has got (almost) everything, if at least i, you want. 49 coding tutorials. Use Google Translate, because it's a russian site, and so-called "splints" are tutorials.
******* awesome, thewaveleght is pure gold! I didnt know about the others pages
This may come in handy! Thanks!
Which one is for creating .wad files?
