I've contacted Securom who developed the DRM used in Stalker COP but there being as unhelpful as they can at this time.
I'm sure it will eventually be fixed but for now my advice is if you run DVD versions of the Stalker Call of Pripyat game and use it on a regular basis do not upgrade to Win 10 yet.
Well, frankly speaking, both pirated & original versions of games (whatever the name is ) work fine on my Windows 10 enterprise ... i don't know why ..but i'm sure , they work
Maybe , because i'm using third party softwares that block windows 10 from spying on me ? (which technically block win 10 from contacting microsoft servers or even sending personal data to it )
Note: windows update works fine by the way , not a single problem
Pirated will work because avoiding the DRM is exactly what a pirate copy does.
This was brought up on the GSC forum recently so I installed my DVD copy of COP as I've been using digital copies lately and it will not work due to the disc not being recognised, It gives a link to the Securom site for you to contact them. Running it in compatibility mode does not help either. So if your legal DVD copies are working it'd be good to know why, Did you install them after installing Win 10? Or where they already installed and all you did was an update to Win 10 rather than a fresh start?
My mistake, It is a COP only issue. The problem is with the DRM used in the DVD copies of Call of Pripyat.
According to what I have read, this is not something about what Securom can do.
This is because MS is blocking the use of such DRMs in Win 10. And it looks they won't allow the use of such DRMs.
Won't it still be up to Securom to provide a work around?
They'll need to provide a patch or something to remove the feature from the game, that won't be down to Microsoft.
If as you say Microsoft are blocking the use of DRM that tells me that Securom really are avoiding the issue due to the run around they've been giving me when they would of obviously known MS were doing that..
Or you use a "non-official" no dvd patch. Or you ask the developer / publisher for a official securom remover patch.
But why do you think asking Securom could be helpfull?
btw: Cut out securom and other "copy protection" software is a good decision from MS. Because this kind of software is a security problem.
Thats my position and my advice!
Of course removing and blocking it's use is a good thing, It should never of been used in the first place, It's kind of ironic how we are now told to use a no disc hack to bypass it

I don't care who fixes it, If GSC want to do it great but from what we know about the companies current situation I'm guessing that's unlikely to happen any time soon.
Uhh can't you just get a crack off megagames?
Also, I think you can still use your keys on GOG.com and download DRM free versions at no cost. I did it for SoC, but I have the other 2 games on Steam.
Go to GOG and try redeeming your key there.
It's not about workarounds it's about the fact that you can no longer simply load your DVD copy up and use it, Plus the fact that all the different limited/special edition DVD copies of COP I own can no longer be used with Windows 10 without an illegal hack, Yet there all legal copies I paid a lot of money for. I don't use them, most are sealed but it's not the point. What about someone else who bought a dvd copy as they have limited internet access. It's about having bought a product that can no longer be used as sold.

Tried the trilogy of CD keys out and I have all 3 digital version now on GOG. So a massive big thank you, and cheers.
The issue could be that something like Smartscreen filter is blocking hte DRM service from running in the background. Maybe something to do would be to give the service access to your network account in Windows. Due to how they have set up sharing network traffic in Windows 8 and now 10, there are some very specific settings that have to be enabled to actually allow a service to access online repositories.
This is really annoying, I can't run Battlefield 1942 now.
Well I dual boot and the retail SOC and COP work fine with the PlayOnLinux app. Got Securom issues with retail CS on Linux though in wine to sort out.
Hey man!
I really appreciate your warning on Win10 with CoP.
I'm still waiting on the notice that it's ready, but now that I know about the incompatibility issue, I will wait on conversion to Win10.
I'd like to say that your posts have always been helpful. I really like the reviews of all the mods for STALKER (all versions), made me aware of some mods I never even knew existed. Keep up the great work!.
Once again, THANKS!
Hi, if you have win 10, try to add your (original )CD key here Gog.com
and you can download game without drm but you need original key, if you add it, nobody can add that key twice
