actually, while it IS true that the head blood thing isnt realistic, its WAY less gory than real life, if you got shot in the head with a rifle in real life, your head would fall apart.
i was just playing SMOD for like 2 hours. i do believe that "red letter day" is a little bit too hard because you dont get a gun to start, and with the penetration... i just didnt find it possible. but if you skip to route canal and start there, i find the game to be highly enjoyable.
its "realistic" in the sense that you have to think to outsmart and defeat the number of enemies coming after you. its unrealistic because you have so many chances that it becomes more of a puzzle shooter than a "simulation" i guess ill say. not saying that as a bad thing in anyway though.
i loved replaying the same thing to try to figure out how to pass. you have to find where there is cover, sometimes fight backwards to where there is cover when the combine are coming from behind. unlike in normal half life 2 where you can just run right through, or stand out in the open and take out 5 guys. i love the fact that one guy can kill me. its great. the peaking out feature is really great too. it helps you determine where to hide, which enemy to attack first, what would be horrible cover, etc.
the only thing that i found to be too hard was the beginning of red letter day, just because there was no way to really fight back. great great mod, i love it more than the last release.
Once i found out all the commands in teh console this mod quickly became my favorite for HL2 so far. The weapons are awesome, they are big and visceral - they move around with your view. I also love the ironsight DOF and scope effects. Great, fun mod - now if we could only bring this into multiplayer.
While ph4tcat himself is not workin on a multiplayer portion of Tactical, Houston and a couple of other fans are by trying to combine SMod Tactical with GMod. Don't know when the mod comes out, if it does come out at all, as Houston has experianced both break-thoughs such as being able to bypass the bin files with lua (you can only edit these if you are proficient with C++) and setbacks such as horrible lag, crashes, and a couple smod features like Gordon's Kick not working.
This "fix" really improves noobers chances, but this got one problem. As u know when ur changin control sensitivity etc. this will write an new "config.cfg" file so everytime when u change controlss like put ironsight on some button that new config file will change so if i encrypt this on cfg directory i cant use any special things and regular things what is needed for playing (ironsight) and cannot even change forward (default on this is up) and backwards (default s) so plz think again to solve this is not solved yet!
Yeah, it's WAY too hard for me, and the blood that squirts out of the head unrealistically after you kill the guys makes me feel dirty inside.
I did laught when I saw alyx squatting with her gun though as she walked around lol.
Although...the realism of the weapons in the game is some of the best I have ever seen in a HL2 mod.
Where do I put the file when I have finished downloading it?
Some times it's really realistic...sometimes I think no...good job tho.

Also, I get the 'ai disabled' thing when I play it.
Just open the console and type 'ai_disable'
