So we updated our official release date on our forums a few days ago and have sent out our press packs (if you're press wanting in on this, you can always contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, better late than never), but we have some great news that we're sure many of you know: Mideast Crisis 2 is releasing this coming Monday (02/23/09).
KEEP IN MIND WE ARE WEST COAST BASED, SO IT MAY VERY WELL BE TUESDAY FOR GMT AND ONWARD USERS. We apologize for time zones, but it will be up before midnight on the West Coast ;)
We have a finished release trailer, a finished copy of the mod, and a lot more news for Monday. But for now, not only do we have that exciting release date announcement, we also have screenshots - tons of them - and a website update!
(From left to right: Near the Temple Mount, AWACS blimps provides overwatch for an Israeli armored column, hundreds of Jihadists committed mass suicide upon the shameful destruction of their command center, and an Israeli Blackhawk carries reinforcements to the front as it patrols a highway.)
As usual, there are more in our gallery, so please check it out.
Our website was updated a couple of weeks ago to serve as a manual for MEC2. The pages have been redone, and content has been rewritten. It's a great read for anyone wanting to know more about this soon to be released mod.
The game information page is home to most of these changes. Here's a bit of the history of the GOI, the controversially named Guardians of Islam, taken from our new about page:
Quote:Following the nuclear disaster that decimated Syria at the end of the first Syrian-Israeli war, a pan-Islamic humanitarian organization was formed to provide aid to the survivors. Following its successes in Syria, this organization was soon renamed the Guardians of Islam and became a progressive force for improvement across the region. Though religiously motivated, the movement is secularly led by popularly elected intellectual elites, and has been active in promoting support for education, construction of new infrastructure and more. One of its most notable projects was the construction of transmitter towers to provide free high-speed wireless internet, which helped to turn the region into a digital powerhouse. One of the biggest questions it faces during the current election cycle is whether to adopt control of a combined military force, much like the United Nations, in the event of another crisis. Many insist that the Guardians must remain a peaceful organization, but others see it as an unparalleled opportunity to become a major world power and to free the Islamic world from Western meddling once and for all.

As we said, we're releasing next week come rain or shine. We'll see you then with more to say and, of course, our first version of the mod to play.
