Post news Report RSS Mental Omega News Bulletin #19

The Mental Omega Act One playthrough is over and it's finally time to post some news. While the recording of all 36 missions gave me a chance to once more test and adjust all the Act One missions, I'm glad it is done as now I can fully focus on finishing the Act Two campaign and the design of Side 4 which we announced a few months ago.

The introduction of a fourth side will obviously result in the increase of total subfactions available in the mod from 9 to 12 as we have been designing this new side with the intention to give it 3 unique subfactions from the beginning. If you are following Mental Omega on Facebook or ModDB then you already know their names: from left to right, it is Haihead, Wings of Coronia and the Last Bastion.

The skirmish loading screens for these subfactions have all been created by Nooze.

The Mental Omega installer, with its classic "Red Alert 2 Setup.exe look" will be updated to feature several of Side 4's objects on the new so-called blueprints. So far, we've got three, which present the Teratorn Skyguard, the Mastodon and the Plasmerizer. The models have been created by Moder.U, Lobstrex and Bu7loos, while the artwork is the result of combined efforts by Tomsons and Nooze.

On a side note, due to the introduction of this new side we are reworking the Stolen Tech system. There will not be a set of 4x4 stolen tech infantry units. Instead, there will be a set of 4x4 stolen tech vehicles, while what used to be the stolen tech in the current release will be repurposed or scrapped. We will go into more details on this matter later, however here's one of the new stolen tech vehicles, created by Azri_Apoc: the Soviet Grumble - the ultimate anti-aircraft system which requires to be deployed before firing its powerful rockets at great ranges.

Forget what you know about Future Tanks, Deviators, Apocalypses, Chrono Ivans, Cyborgs etc.
This is the stolen tech reboot.

The new stolen technology roster! 15 units to go.

Stay tuned as we update our website with more news about the upcoming Side 4.

I hope the M270 or Thunderbolt sneaks its way in there somehow brrrr

Are you still gonna keep all the current stolen tech in game even if they don't appear anywhere anymore?

It appears that they will either be re-purposed or scrapped.

Even if they are scrapped (as in appearing in the sp/mp game), will they still exist within the game itself or not anymore.

Asking because I like making things you normally wouldn't have your hands on buildable and stuff (and playing through the campaign there's a lot of toys to play around with)

Some of them will still be available in skirmish, but through different methods. Others will be repurposed. Some might appear in campaign only. We'll see.

Looking forward to it all! But you guys made a error, it shows the grumble as Allies tech steal, not soviet. Unless I am misinformed.

You get it when you play as Soviets and infiltrate the Allied Tech Center. The Soviets then are able to do additional research on the Allied arsenal and prepare a unit that will effectively deal with the Allied aircraft. It's not always "literally stolen tech".

It's cool to see News Bulletins again, but nothing in this post is really new. I expected a bit more from "MOnday", not just a compilation of recent news.

I hope after you introduced S-300 as an antiaircraft system people will finally stop confusing it with an earthquake tank (lol) or whatever odd tech it may look like :D

Not everyone follows us on ModDB or Facebook, where these pictures were already posted, so I've decided to have them all in a batch for this newspost. Next one will have new stuff only. It's been said from the start that Grumble is an anti-aircraft weapon.

I think I can more or less guess which are the units that will get scrapped/sent to campaign only.

Except for the Cyborg. Please, please, please, PLEASE keep the Cyborg in ;^;

No Apocalypse Tanks? NOT at ALL? *dies*

Anyhow, the new "stolen tech" thingy looks promising... Can't wait to see what other units we'll get with the spies.

Oh,btw. Will any of the actual subfactions get a change? a buff, perhaps?

Scorpion Cell? maybe? ;<

Apocalypse can pretty much be a Soviet vs Soviet stolen tech.
